Start’ Em Sit’ Em Tight Ends – Week 7

Starts

Start of the Week –

T.J. Hockenson vs Atlanta Falcons

Hockenson scored a touchdown last weekend against the Jaguars, and I am rolling with him as my start of the week against the Falcons. Their defense has allowed three of the last five tight ends to score over 21 points per game. The way he is playing this year with Stafford makes this a great play this week.

Hunter Henry vs Jacksonville Jaguars

Henry is coming off a bye week, and he has a really good matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars defense has struggled against the tight ends from the 2020 season. In fact, they have given up about 15 points per game to the position. Henry is a strong play this week.

Rob Gronkowski vs Las Vegas Raiders

Well Gronk finally went off. He scored 18 points last weekend with his touchdown catch, and it felt like old times with Brady and Gronk. Call me crazy, but I am saying to start him after that performance. He faces a Raiders defense this week, and will hope to best him.

Austin Hooper vs Cincinnati Bengals

Hooper is starting to climb the ladder of fantasy relevancy. I feel that he could do some more good things for Cleveland this week in a match against the Bengals. The Bengals have allowed the sixth most fantasy points to the tight end position this year, so is it wise to play Hooper? I’d go with a yes this week.

Robert Tonyan vs Houston Texans

Tonyan got crushed last weekend by Tampa Bay, but he has the opportunity to have a fantastic rebound game against the Texans. Tonyan aside from last week’s game scored four touchdowns in two games. The Titans tight end scored a touchdown and over one hundred yards. He should do well based on previous statistics.

Sleepers;

Dalton Schultz vs Washington Football Team

Jimmy Graham vs Los Angeles Rams

Logan Thomas vs Dallas Cowboys

Sits

Sit of the Week –

Tyler Higbee vs Chicago Bears

For the most part, Higbee hasn’t been as dominant as he was last year, and that is because he and Everett have been splitting snaps. He also faces a very tough Chicago Bears defense that has been pretty brutal against tight ends. In fact the average yards a tight end gets per game is 48 yards against Chicago.

Hayden Hurst vs Detroit Lions

Hurst exploded for about 15 points last weekend against the Vikings, but now he faces a Detroit Lions defense who is actually third in the league against the tight end position. As good as he is, if you have a better option, I’d go with someone else.

Evan Engram vs Philadelphia Eagles

Engram has been all sorts of distraught this year with Daniel Jones as his quarterback. A divisional matchup against the Eagles does not seem like a favorable one to me personally based on the Giants offensive measures. It’s a pain to leave him on the bench, but it might have to be done.

Jared Cook vs Carolina Panthers

Cook is coming off a bye week, but I would still fade on him this weekend when he takes on the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers defense in fact has only given up two touchdowns and less than 10.5 fantasy points per game. It just seems like a hard choice to make, but I am making it by benching him.

Eric Ebron vs Tennessee Titans

Ebron has seen an uptake in targets over the last two weeks, and I think it is great knowing it is gonna get better. However, I would fade on him against the Titans even with the matchup being a favorable one. I feel the receivers and the run game will get more attention than Ebron. He loses targets which means he loses points.

Busts;

Greg Olsen vs Arizona Cardinals

Chris Herndon vs Buffalo Bills

Darren Fells vs Green Bay Packers
