Moorhead’s NFL Power Rankings – Week 13

It’s hard to believe we are already in December people. Football is starting to gear into the playoff picture as we enter Week 13 of the 2021 season. A lot of teams showed up last week, others not so much. Hopefully, you all aren’t too stuffed from Thanksgiving because we got more to come starting with the Power Rankings for Week 13.

#32

Detroit Lions (0-10-1)

Previous Rank – 32

Always bet against the Lions even on Thanksgiving. Honestly, this was one of their closer showdowns, but bad time management and a red-hot Andy Dalton put the squeeze on this bad cat. It is very true what they say. A bear can easily beat a Lion if it’s trained right. The winless Lions will now go on to face the Minnesota Vikings this week.

#31

Jacksonville Jaguars (2-9)

Previous Rank – 31

Really thought this could have been Trevor Lawrence’s game here, but the Jaguars ended up losing to the Falcons. Things went from bad to worse as security blanket Dan Arnold went down with an injury and was immediately put on IR after the game. Sunshine needs to get it together here, but with bad coaching and a bad crew around him, I am not sure how things will go when the Jaguars take on the Rams this week.

#30

Houston Texans (2-9)

Previous Rank – 29

The Texans can beat the Jaguars and the Titans, but they can’t beat the Jets. What is going on here man? This defense struggled in situations where they normally didn’t struggle. The weapons aside from Cooks were nonexistent, and the run game was piss poor. This loss stings, but Tyrod and the Texans will look to get a win this week when they take on the Indianapolis Colts.

#29

New York Jets (3-8)

Previous Rank – 30

This team won and Zach Wilson still didn’t need to throw a touchdown to do it. Amazing. The kid is still bad. He threw another interception and now those INT’s are into the double digits. On the bright side, he did manage to sneak in for a touchdown score. This game was all about defense for the Jets here though as they were able to hold Tyrod in place. The Jets will face the Eagles this week.

#28

Seattle Seahawks (3-8)

Previous Rank – 27

It honestly turns my stomach putting Seattle this low on the list, but man did they look bad on Monday night with that loss to Washington. Russell Wilson was supposed to come back and lead this team to better things, but to be honest, he is playing worse than Geno Smith right now. Also, this was probably one of the worst defensive performances I have seen in a long time for Seattle. They have a lot of work to do to get out of this slump. They’ll face the 49ers this week.

#27

Carolina Panthers (4-8)

Previous Rank – 23

The Panthers had a great run, but with McCaffrey out for the rest of the year, and constant quarterback struggles continuing to happen, it seems their season is over. They were absolutely blown out by the Miami Dolphins and they just can’t seem to find the answers they are looking for. Luckily this week, they won’t get to lose to anybody because they will be going on their bye week.

#26

New York Giants (4-7)

Previous Rank – 28

It was not a pretty victory, but the Giants were able to beat their divisional rival; the Philadelphia Eagles. The defense shined in this one with three interceptions on Jalen Hurts with adding pressure to the mix as well. The Giants’ offense could have been a bit better, but hopefully, they keep this roll going. They will get the Miami Dolphins this week.

#25

Chicago Bears (4-7)

Previous Rank – 26

The Bears were able to walk out of Thanksgiving with a win over the Lions. It got close on a number of occasions, but the combo of Andy Dalton and Darnell Mooney were able to get it done. The Bears have a tough task at hand this week though when they take on the Arizona Cardinals.

#24

Philadelphia Eagles (5-7)

Previous Rank – 21

This was an ugly one for the Eagles. Turnovers, injuries, and a big ol’ shit storm of bad football. Hurts was picked off on three separate occasions and Miles Sanders wasn’t given enough time with the ball, but an ankle injury certainly doesn’t help. The Eagles have to prove themselves here as they’ll face the Jets this week.

#23

Miami Dolphins (5-7)

Previous Rank – 25

Don’t look now people, but the Dolphins have won four straight games and have catapulted themselves into competition in the AFC East yet again. They creamed the Panthers last weekend, but they might have a tougher time this week when the Dolphins take on the Giants after their defensive performance last weekend.

#22

Atlanta Falcons (5-6)

Previous Rank – 24

It wasn’t pretty, but Atlanta got the job down against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Matt Ryan didn’t have the greatest performance against Jacksonville this weekend, but he is aging. I just figured with Patterson back that the pass game would open up more, but instead Patterson just ran over the Jaguars. The Falcons will have a much bigger task this weekend when they face off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

#21

Washington Football Team (5-6)

Previous Rank – 22

What a surprise this is man? WFT is on a roll with three wins in a row against some half-decent teams. Antonio Gibson proved to finally be the guy this week as he just ran all over the Seahawks with no remorse. This week, they get the Raiders. This is gonna be a good one people. Don’t miss it.

#20

Minnesota Vikings (5-6)

Previous Rank – 20

Oh Minnesota, what are we gonna do with you? You win. Then you lose. It’s a vicious cycle that I don’t seem to understand with you. However, it’s gonna get harder because now you lost Dalvin Cook. Let’s hope Mattison can step up because they face the Lions this weekend.

#19

New Orleans Saints (5-6)

Previous Rank – 16

The Saints had their chestnuts roasted to the third-degree on Thanksgiving night. Siemian is awful, and they just made bad mistakes. It also didn’t help that Kamara and Ingram were absent. Nothing got going, but this week Taysom Hill is under center against the Cowboys. Let’s see what he can do!

#18

Pittsburgh Steelers (5-5-1)

Previous Rank – 15

I’m a broken man people. I’m ashamed, conflicted, confused, and just overall pissed off that this happened. We had all the right pieces back, but we still played like shit. Devin Bush makes me want to go on a rampage like in the Purge. However, Ben looked really bad here to the point where people are calling for him to be benched. It’s a tough thing to see man. Also, Watt landed on the COVID List again, but we will see if it makes a difference when we face the Ravens this week.

#17

Cleveland Browns (6-6)

Previous Rank – 14

Baker is a bum. There I said it. He sucks, the Browns suck, and they need to start looking for a replacement. How do you pick off Lamar four times and still don’t win the game? That’s bad people. They’ll go on their bye week to address issues.

#16

San Francisco 49ers (6-5)

Previous Rank – 19

The 49ers knocked off the Vikings, but it cost them their best receiver/running back at this point in Deebo Samuel. He’ll be out at least a week or two, but that gives the target shares back to Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle who desperately need to get things going. They’ll face a banged up Seahawks squad this week.

#15

Denver Broncos (6-5)

Previous Rank – 18

The Broncos were able to restart their season with a win over the Chargers last week. Whether it was Teddy or Drew Lock, this team didn’t need to do much other than play defense and run the ball. That’s exactly my what happened and having Bradley Chubb back definitely helped. They’ll get the Chiefs this week.

#14

Las Vegas Raiders (6-5)

Previous Rank – 17

The Raiders were able to grab a much needed win over Dallas on Thanksgiving. The crazy thing was is that they were able to do a lot of it without Darren Waller. Carr was a beast in this one, and it wasn’t easy as Micha Parsons was all over him. This week they’ll face the Washington Football Team.

#13

Los Angeles Chargers (6-5)

Previous Rank – 10

The Chargers went to their old ways of playing down to lesser teams, but I will say it was a division game so I can’t hate on it too bad. The Chargers are in a three-way tie for second place in the division. They gotta get outta this slump. They’ll face the Cincinnati Bengals this week.

#12

Indianapolis Colts (6-5)

Previous Rank – 11

This was a back and forth game for the Colts. They were leading at one point, but honestly Carson Wentz looked great against this defense. They didn’t even start really using Taylor until the second half of the game. That was their fault, but I am willing to forgive them because they should win this week’s game against the Texans.

#11

Cincinnati Bengals (7-4)

Previous Rank – 13

This was all out brawl for the Bengals against the Steelers last weekend. It made my day an absolute bummer all day man. Pissed me off to no end. Joe Mixon could do anything he wanted against us, and our defense couldn’t guard Tee Higgins to save our lives. The Bengals will have a tougher task at hand this week when they face the Chargers.

#10

Kansas City Chiefs (7-4)

Previous Rank – 10

The Chiefs are coming off a bye week and they are in a really tough division with only a win separating them as the top dog right now. In order to make a statement, the Chiefs will have to knock off a divisional opponent in the Denver Broncos.

#9

Dallas Cowboys (7-4)

Previous Rank – 6

Dallas had a shot last weekend, and it was crazy that they didn’t have Amari Cooper or CeeDee Lamb. Cedrick Wilson, Noah Brown, and Tony Pollard were getting the job done, but they came up short. Things should be better for them this Thursday when they take on the New Orleans Saints.

#8

Buffalo Bills (7-4)

Previous Rank – 12

The Bills got back into the win column last Thursday against the Saints. Josh Allen made some big mistakes that resulted in two picks, but he was able to throw four touchdowns on the day. They will look to retake the division with New England on the rise yet again. They’ll face the Patriots this week.

#7

Los Angeles Rams (7-4)

Previous Rank – 4

The Rams have now lost a number of games to big teams so one has to question their abilities moving forward, but I still have faith in them as an organization. The Rams will look to move forward with the help of OBJ. They will face the Jaguars this week.

#6

Tennessee Titans (8-4)

Previous Rank – 3

The Titans are shaping up to have an awful rest of the season. They have no running back, their best receivers are on IR, and their defense has now become hit or miss. Ryan Tannehill also sucks. Luckily, they can’t lose this weekend as they will be on their bye week.

#5

Baltimore Ravens (8-3)

Previous Rank – 7

Lamar is normally a great quarterback, but wow, was he trash last weekend against the Browns. One touchdown to four interceptions was the total stat. Somehow, they still won the game which shows you how bad the Browns are. The Ravens will look to bounce back from Lamar’s terrible performance when they face the Steelers this week.

#4

New England Patriots (8-4)

Previous Rank – 8

The Patriots are coming back man. It only took one year, but it seems like Big Bad Bill has this team back on track to dominate the AFC. Their defense is unstoppable, and Mac Jones look like the best pickup from the 2021 NFL Draft. The Patriots will look to solidify this statement with a date with the Buffalo Bills this weekend.

#3

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-3)

Previous Rank – 3

The Bucs were almost out of last week’s game with the Colts. Luckily they have a man by the name of Leonard Fournette. He had four total touchdowns in this game to help the Bucs bypass the Colts. This week, we will see if that can happen again when the Bucs face the Falcons this weekend.

#2

Green Bay Packers (9-3)

Previous Rank – 2

The Packers were able to do very well against the Rams last weekend. Despite giving up some points on the defense, the offense was able to do great with big names doing big things. Nicely done by Green Bay, and as a reward, the Packers will now go on their bye week.

#1

Arizona Cardinals (9-2)

Previous Rank – 1

Speaking of bye weeks, the Cardinals are coming off off of their bye week, and they should be finally healthy. Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins should be good to go as the Cardinals will look to continue to dominate the league. Their next challenge will be the Chicago Bear
