What a week in the NFL people. There’s a new team at number one, there’s a lot of depression being a Steelers fan, and somehow the Jets got a win. How does this shake up the Power Rankings? Let’s find out as we get into my NFL Power Rankings for Week Five!
#32
Jacksonville Jaguars (0-4)
Previous Rank – 32

The Jaguars had a chance to finally erase their losing streak, but came up short to Burrow and the Bengals. You have your issues on the field, but now Urban Meyer has become a media hot spot after this issues after the game. The Jags continue to be a mess, and it just goes to show you that sometimes things aren’t what they seem to be for a team that was supposed to have promise with great college coach and a great college quarterback. They’ll face the Titans in a divisional matchup this week.
#31
Detroit Lions (0-4)
Previous Rank – 30

I talked so much about how the Lions were just getting the short hand at their first three games. This was supposed to be a great opportunity for them to win, but they absolutely blew it. They dropped a hard loss to the Bears, and it just didn’t seem like anything was going great for them. Their hard times continue as they’ll take on the Vikings this week.
#30
Houston Texans (1-3)
Previous Rank – 29

This one was just bad man. Granted, they were facing the Bills here, but they didn’t put up a single point. Mills looked real bad here as he tossed a total of four interceptions in this contest. The defense was thrashed by Josh Allen, and it was just one huge mess as they just couldn’t get anything going. They’ll have to break the cycle and try to get another win this week. However, it will be up against the New England Patriots.
#29
New York Jets (1-3)
Previous Rank – 31

Mother of god, the Jets actually did it. Not only did they get a win, but it was against the Tennessee Titans in overtime. Now the Titans had their two best receivers down in Brown and Jones, but their defense really bit the bullet here allowing Zach Wilson to come out the hero in this one. The Jets are still a mess, but with a win under their belt, they’ll try to make it two in a row in London when they face the Atlanta Falcons.
#28
Atlanta Falcons (1-3)
Previous Rank – 26

Speaking of the Falcons, did they ever choke on this one. Matt Ryan finally looked like he was doing his thing, but overall Atlanta couldn’t stomach it falling to the Washington Football Team. Honestly, there isn’t a whole lot to be excited about here with Atlanta. The only real shining star here is Patterson who caught three of Matt Ryan’s four touchdown passes. They gotta get out of this funk. In order to do that, they’ll face off against the Jets in London this week.
#27
Miami Dolphins (1-3)
Previous Rank – 23

Man the Dolphins look bad. This is such a surprise given what they were able to do last year, but it has not panned out to what fans want as they dropped yet another loss. The Colts were able to gash this defense inside and out, but the offense of the Dolphins wasn’t much better. It remains to be seen when Tua comes back from injury that this team will be any better. They’re just not playing good football right now, and I’ll be shocked to the core if they win this week cause they face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
#26
Indianapolis Colts (1-3)
Previous Rank – 27

The Colts finally snapped their losing streak with a win over the Dolphins. I still don’t think this team has much to bring to the table though, and it will be even worse with Nelson going on injured reserve. Wentz will have to step up his game, but also try to protect himself at the same time. They can’t afford yet another injury to their team. They’ll have a tough one this week when they go up against the Baltimore Ravens.
#25
Philadelphia Eagles (1-3)
Previous Rank – 24

The Eagles continue to struggle despite the numbers that Hurts is putting up as the quarterback. Their defense got absolutely destroyed by the combo of Mahomes and Hill, and the inconsistent usage of Miles Sanders bothers me to my very core. They have to start playing up to their potential, and they’ll need every second of it because this week they face the Carolina Panthers.
#24
New York Giants (1-3)
Previous Rank – 28

What a shocking victory here for the Giants as their first win comes up against the New Orleans Saints on the road. They were down Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton, but they still came out with the win over a Saints defense that was top tier. Unusual as it seems, a win is a win, and the Giants will be looking to move forward. Let’s hope Saquon can continue to produce after coming off that injury man cause he looked real good here. They’ll face the Dallas Cowboys this week.
#23
Minnesota Vikings (1-3)
Previous Rank – 21

Whelp, the one time I give the Vikings credit they throw it away with a low scoring loss to the Cleveland Browns. Aside from the one touchdown pass to Justin Jefferson, this team couldn’t really produce on offense. Dalvin Cook was ineffective on the run game, and the rest of the team just couldn’t seem to get anything going. They should be able to rebound though as they’ll face the Lions this week who are yet to have a win on the season.
#22
Pittsburgh Steelers (1-3)
Previous Rank – 20

Being a Steelers fan is absolutely terrible right now man. They had a chance to upset the Packers and get the job done. Sadly, the refs did their part to ensure that didn’t happen as the game would have probably been a lot closer had a blocked punt touchdown wouldn’t have been called back on a bullshit offsides penalty. Ben still doesn’t look great, and the offense and defense need to get better. Najee is still constantly doing his duty though so there is that. They’ll face the Denver Broncos this week.
#21
Chicago Bears (2-2)
Previous Rank – 25

The Bears got it done on this week with a win over the Lions, but there is some concern here. The defense basically carried them to a win along with the run game by David Montgomery. However, Montgomery is dealing with an injury and will be sidelined for maybe five weeks. That’s a huge loss for them. Also Justin Field still struggled here not passing a single touchdown and throwing an interception. We’ll see if this team can get it done this week when they face the Las Vegas Raiders.
#20
New England Patriots (1-3)
Previous Rank – 18

This game seemed a lot closer than it was given the circumstances. Mac Jones actually played really well here against the Bucs as he was able to exploit a lot of wholes in their defense. Sadly, the Pats defense couldn’t keep up with Brady and offense, and it ended up costing them in the end (not to mention a missed field goal as well). The Patriots are still in the works of getting something done here, and they should have no problem erasing their next opponent; the Houston Texans.
#19
Washington Football Team (2-2)
Previous Rank – 22

I don’t believe this game was supposed to be that close, but Washington pulled out a win over Atlanta. Call him what you want, but Taylor Heinicke is playing really well despite their struggles coming on the defensive side of the ball. The defense has to get it together in order to try to make a run for the division. They’ll face the New Orleans Saints this week.
#18
Denver Broncos (3-1)
Previous Rank – 17

The Broncos dropped their first loss of the season this past week against the Baltimore Ravens, but they lost a lot more than the game. Teddy Bridgewater was knocked with a concussion, and Drew Lock had to step in. The offense kind of went into shambles after that. Who knows if Lock can prove himself or if Teddy will be healthy because this week they’ll face a team that injured Lock last season; the Pittsburgh Steelers.
#17
New Orleans Saints (2-2)
Previous Rank – 15

Right now I am just trying to figure out if the Saints are good or not because their two losses are very bad losses, and their two wins are against two good teams in the Packers and Patriots. You would figure returning to their home Dome would be all the momentum they needed to knock off a team like the Giants, but man did they fumble that one. I still feel like stuff isn’t getting done there properly, but they’ll have a chance to right the wrong with a hopeful win over the Washington Football Team this week.
#16
Cincinnati Bengals (3-1)
Previous Rank – 19

The Bengals put another W in the win column this past week with a victory over the Jaguars Thursday night. Burrow seems to be living in the moment with all his ability right now. His tight end found Uzomah found the touchdowns with two, and overall it seems like the Bengals could be going for good things here this season. However, that might come to a crashing hold as they’ll face the Green Bay Packers this week.
#15
Tennessee Titans (2-2)
Previous Rank – 11

I know you didn’t have A.J. Brown. I know you didn’t have Julio Jones. I know your defense isn’t the best. You can’t lose to the goddamn New York Jets Tennessee. The Titans ran the ball a lot here, and Derrick Henry got his points, but overall this was a really shocking and bad performance from the Titans this week as Randy Bullock missed the field goal that would have won them the game. Things might get a little easier though as they’ll face the Jacksonville Jaguars this week.
#14
Carolina Panthers (3-1)
Previous rank – 14

Despite the loss against the Cowboys here ending their winning streak, I’m gonna keep the Panthers here at the 14 spot. Sam Darnold might have thrown two picks here, but he also threw two touchdowns and two more scores on the ground. The Panthers are playing special here man. They have something that I just can’t ignore. They’ll have to prove me right when they take on the Philadelphia Eagles this week.
#13
San Francisco 49ers (2-2)
Previous Rank – 7

The 49ers drop quite a bit here after their loss to Seattle. Most of the concern lies in the fact that Garoppolo got hurt, but man can Trey Lance ball. He tossed two touchdowns to Deebo Samuel including one that was over 70 yards. There is some concern for the team which is why they dropped so much so we will see what happens depending on who is playing quarterback. The 49ers will take on the Arizona Cardinals this week.
#12
Seattle Seahawks (2-2)
Previous Rank – 16

The Seahawks came out with a narrow win here against the San Francisco 49ers, but it was a must win game for them. They didn’t come out without some bumps and bruises though as Chris Carson, DK Metcalf, and Tyler Lockett are all dealing with some sort of injury concern. Wilson should still do well, but it remains to be seen as they’ll take on the Los Angeles Rams this Thursday night.
#11
Las Vegas Raiders (3-1)
Previous Rank – 10

The Raiders drop out of the top ten with their first loss of the season coming against a division rival in the Los Angeles Chargers. They struggled very early as their first points of the game didn’t come until the second half. By then it was too late as the Chargers really didn’t need to do much except pressure Carr. Overall, it was an ugly one for the Raiders. They’ll look to bounce back though as they take on the Chicago Bears this week.
#10
Los Angeles Chargers (3-1)
Previous Rank – 13

Speaking of the Chargers, they move up into the top ten after a win over the Raiders. The Chargers now have two wins in their division coming up against the Chiefs and Raiders. They honestly look great in what they are doing, and I can see this team going very far down the road. Herbert continues to ball out with the likes of Ekeler, Allen, Williams, and Cook taking him to higher places. They’ll look to continue their dominance when they face the Cleveland Browns this week.
#9
Dallas Cowboys (3-1)
Previous Rank – 12

The Cowboys also move up in the rankings after a win over the Carolina Panthers. Dak honestly looked great here in this game, but the real star came out of Ezekiel Elliot who found his form running the football on the ground. The Cowboys defense is quietly moving back up despite the points they give up, and they are atop of their division. Good things seem to be happening in Dallas so let’s hope it stays that way when the Cowboys take on the Giants this week.
#8
Cleveland Browns (3-1)
Previous Rank – 7

Despite the win here, there really wasn’t a lot going on in this game. Baker was not really good here as they once again relied on the run game and defense to keep them afloat. Overall, I like what they are doing, but I need to see more out of Baker Mayfield this season before I give a final verdict. They’ll take on a red hot Chargers this team this weekend.
#7
Kansas City Chiefs (2-2)
Previous Rank – 6

This should have been renamed the Tyreek Hill show because he burned the Eagles for over 180 receiving yards and three touchdowns. What makes me nervous about this team going forward though is one thing; the defense. They weren’t able to stop the Eagles on a number of plays here, and as great as their offense is, they can’t play the catchup game forever. Sooner or later people will triple Hill, and Mahomes will have to find a different way. They’ll face the Buffalo Bills this week.
#6
Baltimore Ravens (3-1)
Previous Rank – 5

Baltimore got up on the ball early, and were able to hold Denver when Teddy Two-Gloves got ruled out of the game with a concussion. After that it was slim pickings as they destroyed Drew Lock. Lamar is getting better as a passer, and they should have Rashod Bateman coming off of injured reserve soon. Overall, I like what I see. The Ravens will get the Colts on Monday night.
#5
Green Bay Packers (3-1)
Previous Rank – 4

The bad man gets it done once again as Aaron Rodgers threw two touchdowns to Randall Cobb, and he even ran one in himself for a rushing score. The Packers have bounced back incredibly from their week one fiasco, and it is hard to believe they’ll slow down anytime soon. Rodgers and Green Bay will get an interesting challenge this week in the form of the Cincinnati Bengals.
#4
Buffalo Bills (3-1)
Previous Rank – 3

Like the Packers, the Bills have bounced back well since losing in week one. This one wasn’t even a contest as the Bills didn’t give up a single point to the Houston Texans this past weekend. They made Davis Mills look like Nathan Peterman throwing all those interceptions. They were so dominant even though Josh Allen threw a costly pick very early on in the contest. The receivers look great especially with the emergence of Dawson Knox at tight end, and their defense is hard hitting as ever. They’ll get a much tougher challenge this week though as they face the Kansas City Chiefs.
#3
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1)
Previous Rank – 2

They managed to come away with the win here, but this was a hard-fought and emotional filled battle for Tom Brady going up against his old team in the New England Patriots. The team relied on the run game from Fournette and their receivers to make plays. Their defense however got a little exposed from rookie Mac Jones. One issue at a time I guess as the Bucs will look to this week when they take on the Miami Dolphins.
#2
Los Angeles Rams (3-1)
Previous Rank – 1

Sooner or later the Rams were gonna have to lose. This was not the time I expected it to happen though as they dropped a huge loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Their defense as good as it is was unable to really do much against Kyler Murray and that offense. The Rams are still at the number two spot though which speaks volumes as to how much I respect this team. Stafford and the boys will look to rebound and get back to winning when they face the Seattle Seahawks this Thursday night.
#1
Arizona Cardinals (4-0)
Previous Rank – 9

Don’t sleep on the Cardinals people. This might be an overreaction, but are the Cardinals the best team in the NFL right now? It seems that way as Kyler Murray continues to make his case for the MVP race. Their team just was able to exploit the Rams in a multitude of ways whether it was through the air or on the ground. The defense was also able to do its part pressuring Stafford quite a bit in this one. They are the only NFL team still currently undefeated, and they will look to keep it that way when they face off against the 49ers this week.
