When it comes to the NFL, the receiver position is one for flash and just overall excitement. A big reason for that is Julio Jones. A former Alabama receiver who is strong, fast, and knows how to work the field. He was drafted by Atlanta in 2011, and ever since has been a complete monster, dominating defenders left and right.
Sadly, due to injury, age, and limited cap space, it seem like Julio Jones will be traded at the start of June. The Falcons will save some of the cap space if they wait until then to make this move, and from a financial point of view it makes complete sense. You are probably wondering though…Who is going to make a move for Julio?? The Falcons have expressed their interest for a first round pick for him. That may be the case, but it might dwindle down to a second round pick. There are a lot of teams though, so let’s see where he lands.
6.) The Cleveland Browns

The Browns wouldn’t be a bad team to consider here. They are in win now mode after making the playoffs for the first time in what feels like a billion years, and they had an opportunity to draft Julio all the way back in 2011, but they just couldn’t pull the trigger. You could argue that this team is a good contender for the Super Bowl now, so getting Julio would make them even better. The only thing that concerns me is that Baker has enough of a hard time trying to force the ball to Odell. You could make the argument that maybe that makes Odell better since Julio would be double-covered, but who knows at this point…
5.) The Indianapolis Colts

The Colts would send Julio to the AFC South where he could hopefully make a big impact catching balls from new quarterback Carson Wentz. This team has needed a decent number one receiver for a while since T.Y. Hilton has been lackluster as of late. They did get help from rookie Michael Pittman Jr. last year, and other pass catchers like Zach Pascal and Parris Campbell are just not cutting the mustard. The offense and defense is in win now mode for the Colts so put Julio in there and let the Colts go for glory.
4.) The Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens have always needed help at wide receiver. Let’s just say it speaks volumes when your tight end is your leading receiver. So, they went ahead and added Sammy Watkins in free agency and acquired Rashod Bateman in the draft to go alongside Marquise Brown, but does that core even remotely scare you? The answer is no. So add a weapon that will put fear into an already dangerous offense. As a Steelers fan, this frightens me, and the same thing goes for the Browns, but they have to show they want to help Lamar. So far, it doesn’t seem like that is what is happening.
3.) The Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans and Julio Jones have bee linked apparently since we found out that he was on the move. It is hard to argue why this wouldn’t make sense. Both Jonnu Smuth and Corey Davis were lost to free agency, and as much as people think, the offense can’t rely on Derrick Henry and A.J. Brown all the time. So bring in Julio Jones to help out in big fashion. It might also help that both he and Derrick Henry were huge Alabama products, but I think this would be a great fit for him.
2.) The San Francisco 49ers

Julio Jones in a 49ers jersey almost makes sense man. He would reunite under the tutelage and guidance of Kyle Shanahan, and would fit into that offense as the number one receiver right off the bat. It is not like I don’t love Aiyuk or Samuel because let me tell you I do. The thing is that COVID and injuries kept them sidelined for a little while. Signing Jones might also help out tight end George Kittle who is the clear number one target on that entire team. All I am hearing are good things at this point.
1.) The New England Patriots

I mean this is it right? This is where good ole Bill is gonna find some way to get Julio for cheap and make him excel in the Patriots offense. Jones has already expressed some joy in playing for the Pats and especially with Cam Newton as his quarterback. Let’s put it this way. This team was virtually improved every way, shape, and form in free agency. While they added Nelson Agholor and Kendrick Bourne, Julian Edelman retired, so you need a number one guy. Julio Jones would be a very dangerous threat behind a sneaky good Patriots team and an evil genius in Bill Belichick giving him direction.
