Beyond the Arc

The NBA was the first major professional sport to react to the Covid-19 pandemic by stopping all basketball operations. And now it appears that they will be the first to reopen normal procedures one small step at a time.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that the 2020 NBA season will resume games anytime soon, but this is a huge step in the right direction. On May 1st, the NBA will allow teams to reopen practice facilities if the state that the team resides in has loosened its social distancing policies. This doesn’t mean every NBA team will report back to practice, but most will.
This pandemic is something we unfortunately are going to deal with long term, but some people are adopting the mindset of “we have to make the best of what we have”.
Now Mark Cuban of the Mavericks for instance leans on the side of wanting to wait to reopen, but who knows with all of the developments that have been occurring.
I personally see this season as an unfortunate bust and it probably won’t resume games any time soon but hopefully they can maybe come to a compromise and maybe host games without fans? We shall see. But seeing that there is any positive movement in the sports world right now is good news that we all need.
