An interesting development occurred this morning with free agent quarterback Jameis Winston. He has found a new home for the first time in his career since he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2015. He is signing a one-year deal with the New Orleans Saints.
He obviously won’t be the starter as Drew Brees still lives and dies with that team for at least for another two years. However, he can try to make an impact by beating out Taysom Hill for the number two. It is an interesting move considering they also extended Hill’s contract through the 2021 season.
If Winston can improve himself from his interception problem, then I believe he is a very viable option to have for when Drew Brees hangs up his helmet. The amount of money hasn’t been disclosed yet because I believe they will wait to make him an official member of the roster on Monday so he won’t count against the Saint’s cap.
If he proves himself to be trustful backup, then the Saints could resign him to a much bigger deal and the Saints could finally have their quarterback of the future. You guys already know that I don’t see Taysom as their franchise quarterback as he is more of a gadget guy in their offensive scheme. So my question to all of you is this;
