Rockets add DeMarre Carroll and Jeff Green

Beyond the Arc

There were quite a few valuable role players who were waived through the carousel of NBA free agency. Quite a few teams who were in need of players of that caliber, and the Rockets made the most recent move.

Houston just signed DeMarre Carroll and Jeff Green off of waivers. This helps them in their move towards small ball play. Since giving up Clint Capela, it is clear what direction they are looking to go. Green has been an NBA journeyman that has proved to be a valuable small forward able to guard positions 2, 3 and 4.

DeMarre Carroll, another NBA journey man is almost the exact same player except he can guard positions 1,2, and 3. They are both above average shooters with the ability to drive to the lane. They are also both team first community builders on the court who move the ball well and are all about making those around them better.

Houston has had some slump streaks despite the star talents of Russell Westbrook and need whatever help they can get. Adding the roles of Carroll and Green aren’t large adjustments, but were affordable and reasonable enough to be fit into Mike D’Antoni’s playbook. I see this as a minor, but helpful move for Houston in the second half of the season.
