LA Kings and Toronto Maple Leafs Trade Breakdown

Heads up kids the NHL Trade Deadline stuff is starting. Today, the LA Kings sent backup goalie Jack Campbell and forward Kyle Clifford to Toronto for forward Trevor Moore, a 2020 3rd Rounder, and a 2021 3rd Rounder.

So Toronto solves a major problem by finally getting a steady backup goaltender for Fredrik Andersson. They also add a nice bottom-six forward. But particularly they acquire a solution to the “Brad Marchand problem”. Kyle Clifford had six scraps last year and is a tough customer. This adds some weight to the Leafs as they once again head down the road to another first-round matchup with Boston.

For LA this continues the fire wagon sale. Gaining more draft picks, but also selling off most of their useful assets. I would imagine Kopitar, Doughty, Quick, Brown, Carter, and Toffoli are soon to follow.

I would also imagine Toronto may not be done making moves. They understand that next year attempting to resign the major stars on this team will be difficult and they are simply out of money. They will make a big push for a cup that right now is anyone to win.
