First things first I made a deal. Shoutout to Dre for knowing that DaBaby lyric. My. Dude. I F** WIT YOU LIKE MARTIN F*** WIT GINA.
Shaq Deisel. Dame D.O.L.L.A. Two actual musicaly gifted and athletically gifted indivciduals going at it. I know there’s traditionally a negative stigma around athlete rappers, but hear me out. This is a LEGIT rap beef, that has some insanly good lines. I’m, as the white girls say, here for it.
“Take your time to respond / there is no hurry / You’ll never be Westbrook / Never be Steph Curry” OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO “What’s in your wallet? / American Express or Visa? / Talking like you’re Bron / You ain’t even Trevor Ariza” OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OK SHAQ DEISEL.
I love this. I LOVE athletes who can actually rap, and whether you like the athlete x rapper wave, Shaq is an OG in that conversation. I mean, don’t act like you don’t still bang “You Can’t Stop The Reign”
If you don’t know though, Dame D.O.L.L.A. is actually a good rapper. I say actually because there are…a few athletes who just shouldn’t rap (Marvin Bagley is one of them). If you need legit proof of Dame’s work, he has a few songs with Lil Wayne, including this banger “Sorry”.
I was just waiting for Dame to come back and SHOOOOOOOOOO did he do it. My lord this man went for the throne here.
“Shootin’ need work like your free throws…and Kobe won you them rings, though” OOOOOO MY SOUL “Said yourself that I’m a Tesla no longer need deisel gas, kind of like the Cavs aint really need ‘Deisel’ ass, and even in Miami won that on the strength of ‘Flash’.” OO OK DAME GO AT THEM FAKE DAYS OKAY OKURR. My personal favorite – “All the money the world but they traded you for Penny.” AHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Also, not to brad but he retweeted by amazing tweet about it so…nbd.
Man, I love rap beef. I love rap battles, I love lyrical fights and this one….this one was a lot better than people anticipated. Shaq still got some flow left in him, something I thought left when DJ Deisel came to be.
Let’s just hope this beef doesn’t bring in more wanna be rapping athletes. No one, and I mean NO ONE, needs more of these
