Beyond the Arc

Tim Duncan is one of the most idolized basketball legends of all time.  The Big Fundamental spent his entire 19 year, 5 championship career in San Antonio with the Spurs.  He has just signed to be the assistant coach of the team joining his long time coach and mentor Gregg Popovich.

So does this mean Pop will stay now after considering retirement?  I think so.  He’s going to have his brightest star along side him which will bring some fresh life to the dying team they’ve become.

I think Duncan will make a great coach considering he did have such a grasp on the (ironically enough) fundamentals.  He’s an excellent player and people person and is very sociable and relatable with the players. This makes him a great fit for the future.  I foresee him studying under Pop and then eventually taking the franchise over in his footsteps.  I think it’s safe to say that if that’s the case, the Spurs will be in good hands for years to come.
