Moorhead’s NFL Power Rankings – Week 11

We thought things got weird two weeks ago with all the upsets, but last week offered some interesting matchups as well. A lot of upsets occurred and a lot of teams underperformed. Who falls into those categories? Let’s find out with this week’s NFL Power Rankings.

Detroit Lions (0-8-1)

Previous Rank – 32

The Lions didn’t lose this game actually, but they didn’t win it either. Honestly, the Steelers should have won this one, but like always they played down to competition. The Lions relied on the running game for most of this contest with Jared Goff only throwing for about 100 or so yards. The Lions will look to still get their one win when they take on the Cleveland Browns this week.

Houston Texans (1-8)

Previous Rank – 31

The Texans are coming off their bye week. They’ll have a matchup against the Tennessee Titans this week which doesn’t look all that great for them on paper. The Texans will have to rely on pushing the ball down the field to Brandin Cooks in order to get anything going this week.

Jacksonville Jaguars (2-7)

Previous Rank – 29

Jacksonville falls back down hard this week after a loss to the Colts. They actually looked like they were going to make a late statement in this game, but it wasn’t meant to be. Lawrence and the Jaguars have to get back on the winning track in order for this team to succeed. The defense needs the most work in my honest opinion. They’ll face the 49ers this week.

New York Jets (2-7)

Previous Rank – 27

The Jets looked awful in this last matchup against the Bills. Mike White who looked to be the guy to replace Zach Wilson threw a total of four interceptions against the Bills’ defense. Now, the team will be starting Joe Flacco as their guy this week. I am not sure how that will work, but if you are the Jets, you have to try anything at this point. They’ll face the Dolphins this week.

Miami Dolphins (3-7)

Previous Rank – 30

Weird stuff happens sometimes on Thursday Night Football. The Dolphins not only walked away with the victory over the Baltimore Ravens, but they smacked them by double-digit points. Tua had to come in halfway through because of Brissett getting hurt, but the main focus of this team on Thursday was the defense who made Lamar and the Ravens look foolish. They’ll face the Jets this week.

Washington Football Team (3-6)

Previous Rank – 28

I would be putting them a little bit higher on this list due to the fact that they knocked off the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but this defense suffered so many losses in this contest and throughout the season. The big one for this week was losing Chase Young for the season with a torn ACL. Montez Sweat is already out with a jaw injury, and there are just too many defensive injuries to count. Ron Rivera and company will take on his old team; the Carolina Panthers this week.

New York Giants (3-6)

Previous Rank – 26

The Giants will be coming off their bye week hopefully with some key players healthy in their lineup. The big one that needs to happen is Saquon Barkley who the Giants desperately need to come back to improve the running game. The Giants pulled off a surprise two weeks ago with a win over the Raiders. That needs to happen again this week because the Giants will be taking on the Buccaneers on Monday night.

Seattle Seahawks (3-6)

Previous Rank – 25

What an odd loss for the Seahawks here? Not only did they lose, but they didn’t score a single point in the entire game. Russ came back only to throw two interceptions. DK Metcalf got in a fight, was tossed, and constantly tried to reenter the game, and the Seahawks were overall just ht garbage. They should hopefully bounce back though, but we will see when they take on the Arizona Cardinals this week.

Chicago Bears (3-6)

Previous Rank – 22

The Bears come off the bye week with an interesting matchup at hand. They will face the Baltimore Ravens who are just coming off a loss to the Miami Dolphins on Thursday night. Justin Fields will look to retrieve some of the magic he had in his last matchup with the Steelers for this one. I mean Lamar Jackson vs Justin Fields. I’d pay to see that.

Atlanta Falcons (4-5)

Previous Rank – 19

Well…As soon as I praise the Falcons for being good, they get absolutely destroyed by the Cowboys in what was supposed to be a very competitive game. The team scored three points in the entire contest, and Patterson was held out of the game due to an injury. That left the team with only one weapon; tight end Kyle Pitts. The Falcons were washed away very easily in this one. They will look to regroup and get a win though as they take on the New England Patriots Thursday night.

Carolina Panthers (4-6)

Previous Rank – 24

He’s back… Cam Newton returned to make a big impact for the Carolina Panthers when they beat the Arizona Cardinals. Newton only passed four times and rushed three times. Yet, he had two touchdowns on the day. An impressive day for Cam Newton indeed. This is now apparently meaning that Newton will start against his old coach Ron Rivera when the Panthers take on the Washington Football Team.

Philadelphia Eagles (4-6)

Previous Rank – 23

Something just told me that the Eagles were gonna come away with the victory here. Philly blasted through Denver in what was a pretty interesting matchup, to say the least. Now, Philly is in second place in the division behind Dallas. They will look to try to keep climbing the ladder when they face off against the New Orleans Saints this week.

Minnesota Vikings (4-6)

Previous Rank – 20

Sometimes my hatred for Minnesota and Mike Zimmer can lead to some interesting situations in which I get things wrong. After how they played last weekend, there should have been no way for the Vikings to win against the Chargers, and yet it happened. Minnesota has been so hot and cold at times that it becomes difficult to trust them, but let’s see how they do this weekend. They’ll go up against the Green Bay Packers.

San Francisco 49ers (4-5)

Previous Rank – 21

What a huge win last Monday night for the San Francisco 49ers. They knocked off the Los Angeles Rams with a trio of touchdown performances. Deebo Samuel and George Kittle continue to be monsters for this offense, and the defense finally showed up intercepting Matt Stafford twice in this game. The 49ers are looking to continue their hot streak as they’ll face off against the Jacksonville Jaguars this week.

Denver Broncos (5-5)

Previous Rank – 16

Denver went from knocking off Dallas to losing to Philly. Not sure what is going on with them, but they are even on their record after ten weeks. It remains to be seen if this team can still get it going this season, but they will look to try…just not this week. The Broncos will go on their bye to prepare for week 12.

Cincinnati Bengals (5-4)

Previous Rank – 17

The Bengals are coming off their bye week, but they are also coming off some tough losses after performing quite well in the beginning of the season. I believe they can get on a much better track this week. They get the Raiders who are experiencing some problems internally and on the field. If Burrow and the defense play well, this should be a good win for them here.

Cleveland Browns (5-5)

Previous Rank – 13

Yikes man, this was an ugly one. The Browns could not get anything going in last week’s matchup against the New England Patriots. The defense crumbled under Mac Jones and Rhamandre Stevenson. The Brown’s offense was also pitiful as Baker was inaccurate and even left the game with another injury…again. Overall, it was far from a good performance for Cleveland. They will have another opportunity when they take on the Lions this week.

Indianapolis Colts (5-5)

Previous Rank – 18

Don’t look now, but Jonathan Taylor might be the best running back in the league with Derrick Henry sidelined. He and the Colts absolutely thrashed the Jaguars last week, but they have a much tougher challenge this week. They get the Bills who are coming off a very impressive win against the Jets last week. Carson Wentz and the offense are going to have to be careful to limit turnovers in this one.

Las Vegas Raiders (5-4)

Previous Rank – 11

Just when the Raiders seem to be doing well, they drop two losses in a row. This one might have been more expected though as they got utterly humiliated by the Kansas City Chiefs. There are a lot of issues going on with the Raiders right now, and they need to get it together. Let’s see how they do this week when they take on the Cincinnati Bengals.

Pittsburgh Steelers (5-3-1)

Previous Rank – 12

Normally in ties, I don’t like to move teams down, but damn man this was utterly embarrassing for the Steelers as they tied against the worst team in the NFL right now; the Detroit Lions. Now Ben didn’t play because of COVID, but Mason has been on this team for years and he should have done so much better than this. Constant mistakes also happened with fumbles from both Friermuth and Johnson that would have ended the game, and now Watt is dealing with a leg injury. Not good things especially going forward as Minkah Fitzpatrick has already been added to the COVID list. They’ll face the Chargers this week.

New Orleans Saints (5-4)

Previous Rank – 9

The Saints drop another loss here after a brutal battle with the Tennessee Titans. I still am not sure why Trevor continues to be the quarterback here with Taysom Hill healthy as Sean Payton loves the kid. Whatever the case may be, the Saints need to get it together to finish well in their division. Up next is a battle with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Los Angeles Chargers (5-4)

Previous Rank – 8

The Chargers are seemingly in a weird position right now as they continue to have close games with so much talent on their roster. They dropped a loss to the Minnesota Vikings in another close one. Issues with names like Mike Williams are coming into play, and their defense continues to let running backs destroy them on the field. The Charges have a chance to get back on track as they’ll face the Pittsburgh Steelers this week.

New England Patriots (6-4)

Previous Rank – 15

The Patriots came and dominated the Browns both on the offense and defense. Mac Jones looked unstoppable as he carved through this defense like a hot knife through butter. Plus, the emergance of one Rhamandre Steveson in the absence of Damien Harris might change up the backfield. The kid ran for 100 yards, had two touchdowns, and caught four passes. The defense shined in this one as well making Cleveland’s offense seem like a high school team. The Patriots will continue to make their name great again with a matchup against the Falcons Thursday night.

Kansas City Chiefs (6-4)

Previous Rank – 14

Are the Chiefs back man? That’s the question after so many bad performances. They dropped a huge bomb on the Raiders as Mahomes passed for over 400 yards and had five touchdowns on the day. The defense also stood up to the challenge and refused to let Las Vegas make it a close one. It was a divisional game so maybe that is why, but it was a nice bounce-back for Kansas City. They’ll face the Dallas Cowboys this week.

Baltimore Ravens (6-3)

Previous Rank – 6

The week started off with an upset loss for the Ravens. They didn’t just get beat, they got absolutley thrashed by the Dolphins. The defense made Lamar incredibly uncomfortable in one of his worst performances. The Ravens are still first in the AFC North division, but now it’s incredibly close which isn’t a good thing. The Ravens need to get back on track to hold that honor. This week they’ll face the Chicago Bears.

Buffalo Blls (6-3)

Previous Rank – 10

One week after they dropped one of their worst performances to the Jaguars, the Bills bounced back with a big one over the Jets. Josh Allen looked better, and because of that Stefon Diggs put up another great stat line. Even the running backs did well with each one of them scoring a rushing touchdown. The Bills will look to this week when they take on the Indianapolis Colts.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-3)

Previous Rank – 5

Coming off their bye week, this was supposed to be a nice walkthrough game for the Buccaneers. Instead, they dropped their second loss in a row. Brady has also thrown multiple interceptions in back-to-back games which isn’t a good look for the Bucs. Tampa Bay will look to get back on track when they take on the New York Giants on Monday night.

Los Angeles Rams (7-3)

Previous Rank – 2

What is happening with the Rams man? The team that was supposed to be in the Super Bowl is now dropping losses left and right. Has Stafford been figured out? The defense is also crumbling quite a bit letting touchdowns through them more often. Overall they have dropped two straight losses to the Titans and 49ers. Now they’ll have a chance to figure out what in the hell is happening as they’ll go on their bye week.

Dallas Cowboys (7-2)

Previous Rank – 7

Dallas came back from their loss to the Broncos in epic fashion with a one-sided victory over the Atlanta Falcons. Prescott looked great throwing, and he finally even rushed a touchdown in himself. The Cowboys are having one of their best seasons so far, and they will look to continue their amazing run when they have their toughest challenge yet when they face the Kansas City Chiefs.

Arizona Cardinals (8-2)

Previous Rank – 1

Arizona drops down again after a painful and unexpected loss to the Carolina Panthers. The offense in this one seemed lost without Murray and Hopkins so let’s hope those two can make it back this week, but their defense really let it go here as Cam Newton who hadn’t played a down this entire season scored twice on them. If the offense becomes 100% again then this team should have no problem getting it done. They’ll face the Seattle Seahawks this week.

Green Bay Packers (8-2)

Previous Rank – 4

It wasn’t a great win for the Packers, but they got the job done. It was more of a defensive game than anything as the Packers didn’t let the Seahawks score a single point and picked off Russell Wilson twice in the contest. We also saw Aaron Jones go down with an injury that led to AJ Dillon doing good things on the ground. Overall, a win is a win, and the Packers will look to this week when they take on the Minnesota Vikings.

Tennessee Titans (8-2)

Previous Rank – 3

That’s right people. The Titans are sitting at the number position and they are doing it without Derrick Henry. They have won six games in a row and are doing this with a defense that is surprising everyone’s expectations. The Titans are on top of the mountain for now, but they will have to keep it up in order to stay here. Their next matchup is against the Houston Texans.
