Start’ Em Sit’ Em Wide Receivers – Week 9

Okay, people time to analyze. Last weekend, Adam Thielen was the start of the week, and he came away with over 70 yards and a touchdown. The sit of the week was Julio Jones who ended up being out so I guess it’s a win, but not really. Let’s check out this week, and see what we can do for your lineups.

Starts

Start of the Week;

Diontae Johnson vs Chicago Bears

Johnson has had a really productive season this year for the Steelers. He’s Ben’s favorite target and continues to catch a bunch of passes. He should do great this Monday when he takes on the Chicago Bears. They just gave up over 170 yards to Deebo Samuel, so you can bet your bottom dollar that Ben will push it down the field to him often.

Brandin Cooks vs Miami Dolphins

Cooks bounced back in a big way last weekend as he was able to produce massive numbers in garbage time for the Texans. He should be a fan favorite for people to start this week as he and the Texans will face the Miami Dolphins. Their defense is hot garbage against wide receivers so Cooks should be a great option for fantasy owners this week.

Emmanuel Sanders vs Jacksonville Jaguars

Sanders laid a goose egg last weekend against the Dolphins. I wouldn’t read too much into this if you are a Sanders owner like myself. The game plan didn’t work for him to get the ball, and when he did it was in some bad situations. It is hard to argue sitting him this week though as he’ll face a Jaguars team that gave up over 140 yards to Tyler Lockett and two touchdowns to DK Metcalf.

Jerry Jeudy vs Dallas Cowboys

Jeudy was activated from the injured reserve, and he should flourish in this matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. We saw how badly Adam Thielen was able to toast them, and I predict the same thing will happen when Teddy Two-Gloves hooks up with him. It will also help that Noah Fant will be out with COVID so he should get some extra looks from Teddy’s way.

Rashod Bateman vs Minnesota Vikings

Bateman has done well in getting the attention of Lamar Jackson in his two first contests with the Ravens. In his last game against the Bengals, he put up 80 freaking yards. Those are great numbers to see for a rookie. He should do quite well against the Minnesota Vikings this week with the work that CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper put on them last weekend.

Sleepers;

Michael Pittman Jr. vs New York Jets

Van Jefferson vs Tennessee Titans

DeVante Parker vs Houston Texans

Sits

Sit of the Week;

Allen Robinson vs Pittsburgh Steelers

The Bears did not move Robinson before the trade deadline. I think that is a stupid mistake on their part considering he will walk as a free agent after this year. He hasn’t done much with how the offense has been running, and he just can’t seem to get on the same page with rookie quarterback Justin Fields. This match may be favorable, but it is anything but that trust me.

Mike Williams vs Philadelphia Eagles

This might be a tough one to swallow given the hot start that Williams had this season. I believe this hot streak will continue, but maybe not for this game. Despite their defense being pure shit, the Eagles are actually pretty good at guarding receivers. Facotr in that Herbert has a bad throwing hand, and it combines into a weird mixture I don’t want to be a part of.

DeVonta Smith vs Los Angeles Chargers

I want to like Smith so much, but he just isn’t clicking right now with Hurts and the offense. Granted, they did run a majority of the time against Detroit so he wasn’t really needed, but he needs to start showing me something here man because people drafted him high based off his college performance. I’d keep him sidelined again this week against the Chargers.

Tyler Boyd vs Cleveland Browns

Boyd had a great stat line against the Jets last week despite being a sit, but I gotta figure what I said last week will happen this week against the Browns. Chase and Higgins are the A+ guys on the receiving core you wanna have, and honestly, all Burrow sees is A+’s. Boyd is a B+ player. He’s good, but I just don’t believe he’s gonna get a lot of looks against the Browns.

Jakobi Meyers vs Carolina Panthers

It is weird how a guy can be targeted so much and yet produce so little. That is the story of Jakobi Meyers. I want him to do well, but things are beginning to take a rocky turn for him and the offense as Mac Jones is spreading the ball out to everywhere on the field. The Panthers are good at covering wide receivers so I would avoid Meyers this week if possible.

Busts;

Brandon Aiyuk vs Arizona Cardinals

Russell Gage vs New Orleans Saints

Laviska Shenault Jr. vs Buffalo Bills
