Start’ Em Sit’ Em Quarterbacks – Week 5

Starts

Start of the Week –

Matt Ryan vs Carolina Panthers

Matt Ryan has had a hard start to the 2020 season. His team is 0-4, Julio Jones is becoming hard to trust, and his defense is awful. However, I see some good things this week against the Carolina Panthers. He has dominated the Panthers in the past as he has averaged more then 26 fantasy points in his last four games against them.

Ben Roethlisberger vs Philadelphia Eagles

Roethlisberger and the Steelers had to eat a bye week last week because of the Titans getting stupid COVID, and now they have to play 13 straight games. Their first game is against the Eagles. The Steelers normally don’t play well against the Eagles, but Philly is banged up this year. I think Ben will play smart here and take advantage of a weakened Philadelphia system.

Deshaun Watson vs Jacksonville Jaguars

You are starting Watson, but the stats haven’t looked great. Now they have fired Bill O’ Brien and we really don’t know what will happen this Sunday against the Jaguars. I’m hoping that this will put Watson into perspective. I can only hope he can excel now with all the weight on him gone against a shaky Jaguars defense.

Jared Goff vs Washington Football Team

Goff has a weird game last weekend against the Giants not connecting on a lot of throws, and only throwing one touchdown against a very suspect Giants defense. This weekend he gets the Washington Football Team who have allowed seven touchdown passes this season, and Goff has scored at least 23 points in two of his last three games.

Teddy Bridgewater vs Atlanta Falcons

Teddy has done good things against the last two teams he has played; the Chargers and the Cardinals. Now he has a chance to do some real damage in fantasy points when he takes on the Atlanta Falcons. Their pass defense ranks last in the NFL. That normally means start that quarterback, so Bridgewater should be a go if you have him this week.

Sleepers;

Daniel Jones vs Dallas Cowboys

Justin Herbert vs New Orleans Saints

Kirk Cousins vs Seattle Seahawks

Sits

Sit of the Week –

Baker Mayfield vs Indianapolis Colts

The Browns may have put up 49 points against the Cowboys last weekend, but the damage was done mostly on the ground as the Cowboys gave up over 300 rushing yards. Baker was okay, but the only touchdown he technically threw was one to Beckham. He goes from one of the worst defenses to one of the best; the Colts. They have given up the least amount of points to enemy quarterbacks, so fade hard and fade fast this weekend.

Tom Brady vs Chicago Bears

Brady had a fantastic weekend against the Chargers like I said he would. However, a shortened week to prepare for the Bears is making me a little uneasy with him this time. His wide receiver core is already suffering with Chris Godwin already ruled out, Scotty Miller being questionable, and O.J. Howard going on IR. That defense isn’t at its best, but I have to give some caution here people.

Carson Wentz vs Pittsburgh Steelers

Wentz got the win last weekend against the 49ers depleted defense, but this week is much more challenging because he plays the Steelers. Their defense has allowed enemy quarterbacks just an average of 13.2 fantasy points per game at Heinz Field. That is not much, and with a very thin wide receiver core, it won’t be easy for him. I’d keep him on the shelf this week.

Joe Burrow vs Baltimore Ravens

It’s really hard to sit this kid after he got his first win against the Jaguars last weekend, but the matchup is anything but favorable as he faces the Baltimore Ravens. Their defense has basically stopped every quarterback in their tracks (aside from Mahomes). Just keep him off your starting roster this week people.

Ryan Fitzpatrick vs San Fransisco 49ers

Fitzpatrick had a chance to do some good things against a skeptic Seattle Seahawks defense, but he fumbled hard throwing two interceptions. While he did rush for a touchdown, the goal was to pass the ball against a very weak pass defense. I would avoid him this week as he faces the 49ers defense who are steamed after they lost to the Eagles last Sunday night.

Busts;

Philip Rivers vs Cleveland Browns

Derek Carr vs Kansas City Chiefs

Kyle Allen vs Los Angeles Rams
