Start of the Week –
Kyler Murray vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Going from the Sit of the Week to the Start of the Week is a huge boost especially with how Kyler Murray played against San Francisco’s incredible defense. Murray had two passing touchdowns on the day against a 49ers defense that averaged about six or seven points a game. Now he goes up against the Buccaneers who gave up five passing touchdowns to Russell Wilson. Murray is a must start this week.
Philip Rivers vs Oakland Raiders
Philip Rivers did decent against a stout Green Bay Packers defense. He didn’t have a touchdown or an interception and he only missed seven of his pass attempts. Instead they relied on their run game to get the job done and deliver a loss to Green Bay. He should have a much better time against the Oakland Raiders who let Matt Stafford run away with three passing touchdowns on the day.
Josh Allen vs Cleveland Browns
Josh Allen had an alright day against the Washington Redskins last weekend with one touchdown through the air and one one the ground. Now Allen has to contend with the struggling Cleveland Browns. I believe Allen can find success here if he runs and confuses the Browns with his legs. He can use his arm too, but for some reason a mobile quarterback seems like the proper weapon to use against Cleveland. he just needs to stop turning the ball over.
Daniel Jones vs New York Jets
Daniel Jones had a bit of a rough outing against the Dallas Cowboys for the first time. He started off hot with a touchdown, but then later in the game threw an interception and fumbled the ball at the end of the game causing a defensive touchdown. He gets a better challenge this week when he faces a New York Jets defense that just gave up three passing touchdowns to Miami quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Jameis Winston vs Arizona Cardinals
Jameis Winston might be back to his trusted ways if he can get through this week against probably his most favorable matchup of the season. He faces a pitiful Arizona Cardinals team that ranks last among all NFL teams against opposing quarterbacks. They give up an average of about 25 points per game. If there was a time for Winston to break out it would be this week. Start him and hope for the best.
Jimmy Garappolo vs Seattle Seahawks
Sam Darnold vs New York Giants
Ryan Tannehill vs Kansas City Chiefs
Sit of the Week –
Baker Mayfield vs Buffalo Bills
Mayfield surprisingly didn’t do anything wrong against the Denver Broncos, but it remains to be seen if he can ever make it out of this part of the list. It does not help that Baker faces the Bills who are really harsh against opposing quarterbacks. Regardless of it being a home game for Mayfield and the Browns it just doesn’t look good for him as he might feel defeated not dangerous after Sunday.
Jared Goff vs Pittsburgh Steelers
Jared Goff has not been the greatest quarterback in the NFL so far and he isn’t the best against good defenses. He has a challenging notion this week against a Pittsburgh Steelers defense that has vastly improved on virtually everything since the trade for Minkah Fitzpatrick. Without Brandin Cooks for a safe guard he will have to rely on Gurley and Cupp to get the job done otherwise it is going to be a long day for Goff and the Rams against Pittsburgh.
Matt Stafford vs Chicago Bears
Stafford has done very well in terms of fantasy production this season. He had a great matchup on paper against the Oakland Raiders and delivered with three touchdowns and nearly 400 passing yards. This week seems a little more challenging though as he faces the Chicago Bears in a divisional matchup. The Bears defense is nothing to be extremely frightened about, but divisional matchups tell different stories sometimes and this weekend could write a bad chapter in Stafford’s book of excellence this weekend.
Derek Carr vs Los Angeles Chargers
Derek Carr found success last weekend against the Detroit Lions with two touchdown passes and over 200 passing yards. Overall, the Raiders ran with a strong run game and passed when Carr needed to. He will find himself in a bigger challenge this week when they go and take on the Los Angeles Chargers who held Aaron Rodgers under center for most of the contest.
Kirk Cousins vs Dallas Cowboys
Kirk had a really good day against the Chiefs putting up 200 some yards and three touchdowns. Sadly we now get to where he is awful; prime time games. Plus he faces the Dallas Cowboys who are coming off a strong win against the New York Giants. Cousins is not good against any team in prime time television. That alone should be a reason to sit him this weekend. Plus it is even worse when he faces decent teams.
