Start of the Week –
Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones vs New York Giants
While it is true that Golladay put up a dud last week, we saw the rebirth of the other Lions receiver, Marvin Jones. Stafford threw four touchdown passes last week and all of them went to Marvin Jones. We now get a matchup in which I believe both receivers will excel at. The Giants are not good at all against the pass and I could not think of a better matchup in which both receivers have the potential to go off. If you have either one in your lineup start them this week.
Courtland Sutton vs Indianapolis Colts
Courtland Sutton was doing really well in Denver before Emmanuel Sanders was shipped off to San Francisco. Now he is guaranteed to be the number one receiver for the Broncos. He should do fairly well in this week’s matchup against the Colts too. What makes it even better is that his matchup with Colts cornerback Pierre Desir is sure to be an easy one for him especially since he is such a threat in the redzone.
Golden Tate vs Detroit Lions
Maybe it is just my love for revenge matchups, but I really like Golden Tate this weekend against his former team; the Detroit Lions. While the Lions defense started out nicely they have quickly been hit with offenses that are making them sweat. While the Giants aren’t the best offensively Tate has the opportunity to do great things this week as the Lions give up an average of 92 yards a game to slot receivers and Tate is beloved slot receiver. Stay Golden Tate!
D.J. Chark vs New York Jets
Chark had an okay day against Cincinnati so he is bound to go off again this time against the New York Jets. Their defense got absolutely demolished by the Patriots last Monday. To be fair that was a lot of Darnold’s fault turning the ball over five times. I still say Chark is bound for a big game, and I can’t think of a better game to have then against the Jets whose defense ranks 24th against the pass and 19th overall against wide receivers.
John Brown vs Philadelphia Eagles
John Brown was worth the start last week as he had five receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown against the Miami Dolphins. He now has another good matchup on paper as he goes up against the crappy Eagles secondary who honestly look like they still play in high school. Their defense has allowed the most touchdowns to receivers that play out wide which is where Brown plays about 75% of his routes. Look for another good game this weekend.
Corey Davis vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
D.K. Metcalf vs Atalanta Falcons
Terry McLaurin vs Minnesota Vikings
Sit of the Week –
Alshon Jeffery vs Buffalo Bills
It is really hard to sit someone like Jeffery with his caliber of play, but I’d strongly suggest it this week against the Buffalo Bills who aside from the Patriots and 49ers might have the best defense in the NFL. The Buffalo defense has only allowed two scores to wideouts as well as less than 19 points to them per game. Jeffery is a hard fade for me this weekend after those stats.
Jarvis Landry vs New England Patriots
Jarvis is coming off some big production in his last couple of contests, but I just do not see the points being in his favor this weekend against the New England Patriots. The Patriots are the number one defense against the wide receiver position and do not show any favor to slot receivers. Only one has scored a touchdown and that was Golden Tate. They also only allow an average of about 56 yards to slot wideouts. Fade Landry this weekend.
Robby Anderson vs Jacksonville Jaguars
I put Anderson as a huge sit last weekend and my prediction came true as he and the other weapons of the Jets aside from Le’Veon Bell virtually did absolutely nothing in their matchup against the Patriots. With Sam Darnold also struggling it will be very tough to trust Anderson this weekend as they made mince meat out of Andy Dalton and Tyler Boyd last weekend.
D.J. Moore vs San Francisco 49ers
Moore is doing wonders for the Panthers as he is edging himself into the number one wideout Carolina has hoped for. However, this matchup is really not in his favor against the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers have only given up three touchdowns and the fourth fewest fantasy points to the wide receiver position. This is a really bad matchup and should be avoided at all costs.
Marquez Valdes-Scatling vs Kansas City Chiefs
Call me crazy for putting him on here, but for some reason I am really having a hard time of trust Valdes-Scatling in this matchup with the Chiefs. Couple the fact that he only caught two balls all game and the fact that the Chiefs defense came alive when Mahomes went down just doesn’t make my mouth water at the fact of starting him this weekend. He is a flex play at best, but be warned he might not produce as much as you think.
Mike Williams vs Chicago Bears
Christian Kirk vs New Orleans Saints
DeVante Parker vs Pittsburgh Steelers
