Start’ Em Sit’ Em Quarterbacks – Week 8

Start of the Week –

Jared Goff vs Cincinnati Bengals

Goff got back on track last week against the Falcons throwing for 268 yards, two passing touchdowns and a rushing score. I see him having similar success against the winless Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals did an alright job of containing Garnder Minshew last week, but Goff has more weapons at his disposal. I see Goff taking it to Cincinnati this weekend and the Rams starting to build back the momentum they lost early on in the season.

Matt Stafford vs New York Giants

Stafford exploded last week against the Minnesota Vikings throwing for 364 yards, four touchdowns and an interception with a completion percentage of almost 67%. That bolds well for him that he might be throwing the ball more especially with running back Kerryon Johnson going on IR after this game. He gets a tasty matchup this week against the Giants who are ranked #21 against opposing quarterbacks and #23 against the pass. Look for Stafford to have a good showing in this one.

Kirk Cousins vs Washington Redskins

Well I’ll be damned Kirk Cousins is sure proving me wrong in fantasy this season. Since Adam Thielen’s throwing comment he made Cousins has posted 976 passing yards, ten touchdowns and one interception in the last three weeks. I like this revenge matchup here even without Adam Thielen in the mix of things as the Redskins have allowed 14 touchdown passes so far this season. Start him if you got him.

Josh Allen vs Philadelphia Eagles

Bills-Dolphins-New Era Field-Scull

Allen did a good job last week against the Dolphins scoring 21 fantasy points and having his second highest score all season. He threw for 202 yards, two touchdowns and rushed for 32 yards on four carries. I like his matchup this week against the Eagles who continue to struggle defensively. Allen with his receivers should have a nice day as the Eagles have given up more than 23 points to quarterbacks playing at home.

Mason Rudolph vs Miami Dolphins

Would I even be a Steelers fan if I didn’t throw Mason in here for the starts. Coming off the Steelers bye week, Mason has cleared the concussion protocol and will most likely start again at quarterback. While I believe the Steelers will lean a little more on the run game in this affair it is hard to pass Mason up as a starter this week against the worst defense in the NFL. If you are in a deep league and in need of a starter this week, he is your guy.

Teddy Bridgewater vs Arizona Cardinals

Ryan Tannehill vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Gardner Minshew vs New York Jets

Sit of the Week –

Baker Mayfield vs New England Patriots

I mean it is a given at this point right? Mayfield has been a real head scratcher this season as he now leads the league in interceptions and overall just has had a really crappy year. Now coming off a bye week he has to tangle with the undefeated New England Patriots who have destroyed opposing quarterbacks. Mayfield is a must sit this week and if you don’t believe me check out his less than finer moments in the form of his interceptions this season.

Jacoby Brissett vs Denver Broncos

Brissett is coming off a huge performance last week against the Houston Texans with over 300 yards passing and four passing touchdowns. As much as I like Brissett I cannot ignore stats and they are telling me not to chase the points this week against the Denver Broncos who are third in the NFL both against quarterbacks and the pass. If you have to start him then do so, but he’s a big risk play this week.

Philip Rivers vs Chicago Bears

NFL: Los Angeles Chargers at Tennessee Titans

Rivers did a decent job in the stat lines last week with two passing touchdowns and 329 passing yards against the Titans. However, now he goes up against the Chicago Bears are ranked the seventh toughest against opposing quarterbacks. Plus with the way that the run defense has been playing maybe I’d understand if they handed the ball more to Austin Ekeler or Melvin Gordon in this game.

Carson Wentz vs Buffalo Bills

Wentz is struggling right now and if you don’t believe me just check out his last outing against the Dallas Cowboys. He only passed for 191 yards and had a touchdown and interception. I do not like his matchup this week against the Buffalo Bills who are dangerous to opposing quarterbacks. The Bills are also ranked the fourth toughest defense against quarterbacks. Wentz will struggle so keep him sidelined.

Jimmy Garoppolo vs Carolina Panthers

Jimmy Garoppolo

Maybe it was the weather last week and how the field was, but Jimmy G still threw an interception to the Redskins defense and no touchdowns. I’m keen on sitting him this week against a Panthers defense even though they are the 25th defense against the pass. They have managed to come up with big takeaways and something tell me this might not end up well for Jimmy this week.

Kyle Allen vs San Francisco 49ers

Jameis Winston vs Tennessee Titans

Ryan Fitzpatrick vs Pittsburgh Steelers
