Start of the Week –
Carson Wentz vs New York Jets
Wentz is coming off a huge performance against the excellent defense of the Green Bay Packers. He was the first one to throw a passing touchdown against them and not only did he do that, but he threw two more as well. This week he gets an easy challenge against a Jets team whose defense has been very suspect at giving up big points to quarterbacks including Josh Allen, Baker Mayfield and Tom Brady. Start Wentz with confidence.
Matt Ryan vs Houston Texans
Matt Ryan has had a very roller coaster 2019 season so far. He has eight touchdowns against six interceptions this season and last week didn’t throw a single touchdown against the Tennessee Titans. I look for him to rebound this week against the Texans. They have given up major points to quarterbacks aside from Kyle Allen of the Panthers. Expect some sacks against him, but Ryan should be started this week.
Jameis Winston vs New Orleans Saints
Winston has been up and down a lot, but he should be looked at as a starter in fantasy this week not just because of his strong performance against the Rams, but because he has an enticing matchup against the Saints this week. They give up an average of twenty four points a game to quarterbacks. Time to see if last week was a fluke or if it was just a flash in the pan.
Kyler Murray vs Cincinnati Bengals
Kyler Murray came up short throwing an interception and no passing touchdowns against the Seahawks, but this week he has an intriguing matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. They are virtually awful in every defensive aspect. Look for Murray to bounce back with possibly a touchdown through the air and on the ground.
Jacoby Brissett vs Kansas City Chiefs
Jimmy Garoppolo vs Cleveland Browns
Andy Dalton vs Arizona Cardinals
Sit of the Week –
Baker Mayfield vs San Francisco 49ers
Mayfield had a strong showing even though I had him as a sit last week against the Ravens. I do not expect lightning to strike twice against the 49ers. They are rested off a bye week and the amount of pressure they put on quarterbacks is unreal. It may be hard to sit him, but I would do it in a very unfavorable matchup.
Marcus Mariota vs Buffalo Bills
Mariota surprised me again last week against the Atlanta Falcons throwing three touchdown passes. This week however he has a monstrous challenge against the Buffalo Bills whose defense has given quarterbacks huge problems in the past including last weekend when they held Tom Brady to 151 yards and interception. Keep him on the bench this week.
Daniel Jones vs Minnesota Vikings
Daniel Jones had the chance to strike twice after his impressive debut against the Buccaneers. However, he underperformed with a touchdown and two interceptions against a pitiful Redskins defense. This week he gets a much bigger challenge against a Vikings defense who is looking to bounce back after a loss to Chicago.
Jared Goff vs Seattle Seahawks
It’s a shame that it has gotten to this point, but even though Wentz threw for 517 yards and two touchdowns last week it wasn’t a good performance for a number of reasons. One, Goff threw the ball a ridiculous sixty eight times. Two, he threw three interceptions to go along with those two touchdowns. Three, it was against the BUCS! Goff has become a bit of a quarterback problem and until he gets his act together I wouldn’t start him especially this week against Seattle.
Derek Carr vs Chicago Bears
Kirk Cousins vs New York Giants
Joe Flacco vs Los Angeles Chargers
