Start of the Week –
Lamar Jackson vs Arizona Cardinals
Jackson was my start of the week last week and it paid dividends as he scored one more touchdown than I predicted with five against a shameful Miami defense scoring a whopping 36.56 in my fantasy league. Look for this to continue as he goes up against an Arizona Cardinals defense that Matthew Stafford torched for 30 fantasy points last week. I see some deep ball touchdowns in the future with Jackson and Hollywood Brown this week.
Matt Ryan vs Philadelphia Eagles
Matt Ryan was virtually a stink option to play until his two touchdowns in the fourth quarter against Minnesota. I like him to rebound this weekend as he takes on an Eagles team that surrendered 380 yards and three touchdowns to Case Keenum. I especially like this option considering the Eagles defense wasn’t all it was hyped up to be. Look for Ryan to attack through the air with his favorite targets Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley in this one.
Ben Roethlisberger vs Seattle Seahawks
I had Big Ben as a sleeper pick last week on the road against New England. For that I apologize as he stunk up the joint scoring less than ten points. As a Steelers fan it was a very disappointing night to witness. This week however, he is at home where he virtually plays a lot better and has more confidence throwing the ball. Expect him to rebound this week as the Seattle defense got blown away by Andy Dalton for 418 yards and two touchdowns.
Baker Mayfield vs New York Jets
The Browns had a harsh trip back to reality last week losing to the Titans 43-13. Mayfield also uncharacteristically threw three picks against the Tennessee defense as well. This week he gets the Jets where I feel more comfortable in his ability to get things done. The Jets gave up a sixteen point lead to the Bills last week which spells trouble for them going up against Mayfield in week two. The Jets were also the first team Mayfield played against last year and he won them the game so the question is will lightning strike twice?
Cam Newton vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Cam’s first game since his shoulder surgery wasn’t the best, but keep in mind he was playing a top defense in the Los Angeles Rams. Tonight he gets a matchup against a Tampa Bay defense that couldn’t do much since Winston was turning over the ball a lot last week. Expect Cam to be calmer and better in action going up against a divisional rival.
Josh Allen vs New York Giants
Sam Darnold vs Cleveland Browns
Derek Carr vs Kansas City Chiefs
Sit of the Week –
Kyler Murray vs Baltimore Ravens
Murray bounced back in a huge way last week shaking off the rookie rumbles and ended up getting the Cardinals to tie against the Detroit Lions. This week they get a really tough task against the Baltimore Ravens who held the Dolphins to a mere ten points last week. Murray is going to be playing in a losing effort in my opinion so it might just be safe to keep him on the bench this week.
Andy Dalton vs San Francisco 49ers
The Red Rifle got a huge hot start last week against the Seahawks throwing for 418 yards and two touchdowns. This week doesn’t bold well in his future however as he gets the 49ers whose defense last week picked off Jameis Winston three times with two of them going for pick sixes. The ball will be placed firmly in his control this game because I do not see the rushing attack doing much damage either. Don’t chase the points on this one. Keep the Red Rocketeer on the bench this week.
Kirk Cousins vs Green Bay Packers
Cousins may have gotten the win last week, but most of the damage went with the ground game. In fact he only threw the ball ten times and had under 100 yards passing. I firmly don’t trust him in this one as the Packers made mince meat of the Bears offense last week holding Trubisky to 228 yards and an interception. Cousins just isn’t a smart play this week especially since Green Bay’s defense looked very strong last week with all of their offseason moves.
Matthew Stafford vs Los Angeles Chargers
Stafford looked really good against a struggling and rebuilding Arizona Cardinals team last week. I don’t see the trend continuing when the Chargers storm into Detroit especially with the attacks they did with Austin Ekeler and Keenan Allen. Plus the defense of the Chargers may be without Derwin James, but they should give Stafford a very hard time this week.
Jacoby Brissett vs Tennesee Titans
As much as i thought this Colts team would be doomed without Andrew Luck, Brissett did fairly well against the Chargers defense last week. However, they relied more on their run game than anything with Marlon Mack rushing for 174 yards. Though I see Mack doing well in this game I just do not have the same confidence in Brissett against the Titans who sacked Mayfield numerous times and picked him off three times on the road.
