Wrestlemania is finally upon us guys! This Sunday, Wrestlemania 35 will bring some of the best wrestling talents and give me a platform to perform on the grandest stage of them all. The show officially begins at seven with a preshow expected to be around six. While some of the matches might seem a little lack luster compared to past Wrestlemanias, there are some matches here with the potential to steal the show. Let us see what I “The Rank King” have predicted for these matches since I know my buddy Josh probably already has his predictions up.
Wrestlemania Women’s Battle Royal
Prediction – Asuka wins
I personally do not care very much for the Women’s Battle Royal because while I respect it is a showcase to get everybody involved in Wrestlemania, it feels like they are giving these women the so called “participation trophy” that someone gets in sports. I say this because I believe only the best of the best should compete at Wrestlemania. That being said it is harder for the women because they essentially would have two matches. One match for the Raw Women’s belt and one for the Smackdown Women’s belt. That is fine with me but how about we give the ladies another match or two instead of a huge battle royal that includes literally everyone under the sun. If I had to choose someone to win it would be Asuka as she lost the Smackdown’s Women belt to Charlotte Flair. Let’s see if it will work because they tried to do something very similar at Wrestlemania 25 and we all know how that turned out.
Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal
Prediction – Braun Strowman wins
The same thing I said about the Women’s Battle Royal can be said here. The Battle Royal is a nice to touch to involve everyone, but again it seems like they are just letting them compete instead of earning it. I have Braun Strowman winning here and if they don’t have him win he is going to have two major Wrestlemania sour moments in back to back years. Those who watched his crappy way of winning the Raw Tag Team Championships with a kid still sting as they had all the creativity in the world and they chose to go in that direction. So let us hope WWE has learned their lesson and will give Strowman the win here.
Bobby Lashley (c) vs. “The Demon” Finn Balor
Prediction – “The Demon” Finn Balor Wins ( New Champion)
Here is an easy way I can tell that Finn Balor will win the intercontinental championship from Bobby Lashley this Sunday. “The Demon” version of Balor hasn’t been pinned or made to submit since arriving in the WWE. It would be kind of stupid to have Lashley be the one to upset that impressive accomplishment by Balor. Plus, I believe Balor can do more with the championship than Lashley and that is not a knock on Lashley. I honestly think both of these men could find themselves in the main event spot if they keep at it. For now however, they are in the mid card and I see Balor taking victory in this one.
Buddy Murphy (c) vs. Tony Nese
Prediction – Buddy Murphy Retains
The cruiserweight division is a high paced and deadly. However, it hasn’t been given the golden attention that WWE has offered brands like Raw, Smackdown or NXT. This match will be exciting, but not well known. I give the champion Murphy the edge on this one as he retains his belt on the grandest stage of all.
Kurt Angle vs. Baron Corbin
Kurt Angle’s Farewell Match
Prediction – Kurt Angle Wins
Now if they decide this the route that WWE wants to go then Kurt Angle will easily win this match and send Corbin packing. My theory is that they will substitute Corbin for someone else on Sunday and the crowd will go nuts over it. I mean honestly anything is better than this match at this point. Who it could be is a whole mystery though. I just hope they get the mystery angle right this time unlike what they did last year with Braun Strowman’s mystery partner. I kind of have an idea of who it might be, but for now all I’ll leave is this hint. Whoever faces Angle at Mania, their time is now.
The Revival (c) vs. Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins
Raw Tag Team Championship
Prediction – Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins Win (New Champions)
It has been obvious since this year began that the WWE kind of gave up on the RAW Tag Team Championships a while ago. Sadly, I really enjoy the Revival and what they bring to the table. However, I believe this will be the day they finally end the losing streak of Curt Hawkins and reunite the Edge Heads as Raw Tag Team Champions.
Usos vs. Ricochet and Aleister Black vs. The Bar vs. Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev
Fatal 4 Way Match for the Smackdown Tag Team Championships
Prediction – Usos Retain
That’s right in a huge just added fatal four way match I have the Usos coming out on top as the champions. It would honestly be a little weird if Ricochet and Black won when they are in NXT at the moment. The Bar would be an interesting selection to be champions at this time given they had the RAW Tag Team Championships at last year’s Mania. Finally, the team of Nakamura and Rusev winning this early is a bit odd. I can see them winning down the road against the Usos maybe even at the next ppv.
Samoa Joe (c) vs. Rey Mysterio
United States Championship
Prediction – Samoa Joe Retains
I want everyone to just take a breath right now. Rey Mysterio is fine, but it looks like he will be unable to compete in the Wrestlemania match. I believe Mustafa Ali would be an excellent substitute for the occasion. It is very sad to see someone like Mysterio go down with yet another injury to his storied career. I had Joe winning before the injury and now I believe he will definitely retain against any competitor he will face at Wrestlemania.
A.J. Styles vs. Randy Orton
Prediction – Randy Orton Wins
Now A.J. Styles is one of the greatest things going in the WWE and imagining him losing at Wrestlemania seems odd, but he is going up against one of the greatest of all time in Randy Orton. This match is going to be an exciting one to watch as you have the high flying and veteran styles of Styles against the cold and ruthless attitude of the “Viper” Randy Orton. In the end, I think Orton pulls this off when Styles goes for a phenomenal forearm and gets an RKO instead. This will be one of the best matches on the card especially for Wrestlemania.
Bayley & Sasha Banks vs. Beth Pheonix & Natalya vs. IIconics vs. Nia Jax & Tamina
Fatal 4 Way Match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships
Prediction – The IIconics Win (New Champions)
Okay look I get it. Some of you are looking at this and thinking why does he have the weakest of the four teams winning. Normally in a fatal four way scenario the teams are trying to beat the living daylights out of each as much as possible until one is victorious. With there being four different tag teams (meaning eight women) in this matchup I have a feeling the IIconics will slip through the cracks and shock the world winning the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships.
Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre
Prediction – Roman Reigns Wins
This is gonna be one of those stand up and drag’em out brawls. A fight has been brewing inside of Drew McIntyre and he has been wanting to punch someone in the face for a while. Enter Roman Reigns. Roman has just entered remission for cancer and is now looking to the beautiful and bright experiences of Wrestlemania 35. He won’t be main eventing, but he will be involved in one of the most brutal encounters with the Scottish Psychopath. Something tells me blood capsules will be used in this match as it is going to get really brutal. I do have Roman Reigns going out on top over McIntyre in this one though.
Shane McMahon vs. The Miz
Falls Count Anywhere Match
Prediction – The Miz Wins
We go to another brutal and probably one of the more personal matches on the card with Shane McMahon vs The Miz. This match is going to be a Falls Count Anywhere Match and it will be fast paced and exciting to watch. We already know there is going to be an incredible feat that Shane McMahon will have to perform and whether it works or not the crowd will definitely pop over it. I have Shane doing one of these moves and hitting the Miz, but not pinning him in time and Miz hits Shane with the Skull Crushing Finale for the victory.
Triple H vs. Batista
No Holds Barred Match
Prediction – Triple H Wins
Here comes probably the most brutal and slow paced match of the entire night. The storied history of Triple H and Batista comes to a painful ending as the two will face off in a No Holds Barred Match. Batista throughout his career has never lost a match against Triple H. I see that ending here especially since the fact that the WWE writing team has decided to put Triple H’s career on the line. If he loses he will be forced to retire. I do not see that happening. This match will probably be about 30-35 minutes long and will go to dark places, but I see fans being very happy at the safe results these two can create with each other.
Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Seth Rollins
Prediction – Seth Rollins Wins (New Champion)
WWE now has the proper way to end what was so stricken with grief last Wrestlemania season. In the main event match between Lesnar and Reigns for the Universal title, Lesnar emerged victorious and I was incredibly surprised as a WWE fan. They now have the chance to do it right. They have the same formula, but this time Seth Rollins is the equation they were missing. Rollins can carry the championship and the crowd on his back and ultimately rule RAW as the rightful WWE Universal Champion.
Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Kofi Kingston
Prediction – Kofi Kingston Wins (New Champion)
Oh yeah I went there. This is probably one of the best stories I have seen in a long time from the WWE. They are finally doing what I have wanted them to do for so long, and that was give Kofi Kingston a WWE Championship match. Now that he has it, I predict he will reach the pinnacle of his career when he pins Daniel Bryan and finally wins the big prize that has been eluding him for his 11 year career in the WWE. I predict both Erick Rowan and the New Day both getting involved, but ultimately I predict Kingston hitting Bryan with the Trouble in Paradise and pinning him becoming the new WWE Champion.
Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte vs. Becky Lynch
Winner Takes All Triple Threat
Prediction – Becky Lynch Wins (New Champion)
Now don’t get me wrong. I really enjoy this match as the main event. The amount of story telling that has gone into this rivalry has been unmatched by anything else in like I don’t know the last four or five years. I feel weird that the Smackdown Women’s Championship got involved, but whatever it adds drama to a crazy situation. However, none of it matters as I believe Becky Lynch will walk into Wrestlemania and win both the RAW and Smackdown Women’s Championship. What they do after will be interesting. Will they let Becky choose a brand to go to? Will the titles be unified? Will she relinquish one of the belts? All should be revealed on the RAW after Mania, but for now that is what I believe will happen.
