Penguins trade Daniel Spring to the Ducks

Well well well… Maybe old Jimmy is reading the blog eh?

The Penguins have traded talented top six forward Daniel Sprong to the Anaheim Duck in return for Marcus Pettersson.

Positives: We get another NHL ready defenseman who blocks a tun of shots. He also is six foot three and can add some much needed depth to our blue line. He is also only 22 so he is very young. He is averaging fifteen minutes of ice time in Anaheim and will slot in nicely in the Pens top four.

Negatives: The Penguins may have just traded away a piece who could relive their scoring depth issues. Obviously Daniel Sprong wasn’t a favorite of the current administration, but mark my words that boy will be a great forward in this league for years to come.

But before you feel relief for your favorite player take a deep breath something tells me Old Jimmy ain’t done yet. I still want to see a legitimate solution in goal, if they are not going to allow Jarry playing time. Also the bottom six are not settled yet. This move also allows Old Jimmy to trade away one of the Finnish Defenseman for a possible package.

So hold onto your butts Pens fans were having ourselves a fire sale.

Until next time, remember keep your stick on the ice. – Johnny V –
