Start’ Em Sit’ Em Running Backs – Week 3

Running backs are the most important position fantasy football people. So when you take them high and they don’t perform how you want you might get a little angry. It’s a tough slippery slope from last week, so let’s see which backs will slide into the lane of success this week, and which ones will slide right off into the wastelands of failure.

Starts

Start of the Week;

Najee Harris vs Cincinnati Bengals

Okay look I get it man, Harris didn’t have the rushing performance we were hoping for against the Raiders. However, he still scored a touchdown through the air, and that might be a big role he plays this week with Diontae Johnson banged up. I like this play a lot and would consider him getting a decent amount of points. The Bengals rush defense has improved, but they were still getting trashed by Dalvin Cook and David Montgomery these last two weeks. Look for Harris to get his first rushing touchdown of the season here.

Miles Sanders vs Dallas Cowboys

Mile Sanders hasn’t lived up to his ADP so far this season. He will look to change that this Monday night when he and the Philadelphia Eagles take on the Dallas Cowboys in a divisional matchup. The way this defense got shredded by Austin Ekeler last weekend makes me think that Sanders could have a good chance to succeed if the play calls are done right. Expect Hurts to run too, but this game should be a good one for Sanders.

Chase Edmonds vs Jacksonville Jaguars

Edmonds is proving to be the better back option in Arizona next to James Conner. The kid’s biggest key is to why he is better is because he can catch passes out of the backfield which Kyler Murray loves to do. He should be a great play here against the Jacksonville Jaguars. I imagine Edmonds slipping in for his first rushing touchdown of the season this week as well so get that in there too people.

Leonard Fournette vs Los Angeles Rams

I’m gonna be honest, this might be the most uncertain pick for this week people. I am rolling with faith here as Fournette has out performed Ronald Jones for the last two weeks. They also face a Rams team which is tough, but by far their rush defense is the weakest link. Plus Fournette can catch passes from Brady out of the backfield which Brady loves to do. I’m calling it here people. He’s a solid flex option this week.

Ty’son Williams vs Detroit Lions

I love Ty’son Williams this week man. He did decent against Kansas City last weekend scoring double digit points and being a vital part of that rushing attack. He should do the same this weekend as he faces off against the Detroit Lions. Their defense let Aaron Jones score four touchdowns last Monday. Get Williams in your lineup this week. He is a solid RB2 and a high reward flex option man.

Sleepers;

Javonte Williams vs New York Jets

James White vs New Orleans Saints

Kenyan Drake vs Miami Dolphins

Sits

Sit of the Week;

Clyde Edwards-Hellaire vs Los Angeles Chargers

CEH owners should be panicking a little bit right now. He hasn’t made a fantasy breakthrough at all because the Chiefs just don’t run the ball. He looks like a lost puppy out there confused as to why he is even here on the team. It makes matters worse that when you do run the ball, he costs you the game with a fumble. I am honestly not sure what lies in store for him the rest of the season. He’ll face the Chargers this week, but I don’t think it is gonna be pretty.

James Robinson vs Arizona Cardinals

It is so hard to sit Robinson given how much of a stud he is, but Jacksonville is a mess man. They tried to get him involved more last weekend against the Broncos, and he was able to produce just nine fantasy points. Until Urban Meyer and company fix the problem in the offense, I just can’t risk starting Robinson. At best, he is a very worrisome flex play. There is a little upside given they play the Cardinals, but I think they’ll have to abandon the run game really early in this one.

Mike Davis vs New York Giants

Davis was supposed to give Matt Ryan the help he needed on the ground to move the ball. Unfortunately, that just hasn’t been happening. What is worse is that Patterson is stealing the role. He scored on the ground and through the air last weekend against the Bucs while Davis was left out in the cold. I am feeling a changing of the guard here as Davis might be sitting the bench for quite a while. He’ll look to prove otherwise against the Giants this week.

Devin Singletary vs Washington Football Team

Singletary actually scored on the ground last weekend, but do not chase points people. They were in a situation where they didn’t need to do much to beat the Dolphins, and he also scored very early. What makes things even worse is that Zack Moss came in and got not one, but two rushing scores. I don’t trust him this weekend against the Washington Football Team. Their front seven is not to be messed with.

Sony Michel vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Even if Darrell Henderson can go, it is likely going to be limited which makes the option for Sony Michel a juicy one this weekend. I am warning you people. This is a bad matchup for him. He’ll be up against a Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense for one. Two, he just runs. He’s not a back that can catch multiple passes out of the backfield. Finally, I can see Matt Stafford passing more in this contest given who they are up against. All things considered, I would advise people to sit Michel this week.

Busts;

Mark Ingram vs Carolina Panthers

Tony Pollard vs Philadelphia Eagles

Michael Carter vs Denver Broncos
