Start’ Em Sit’ Em Tight Ends – Week 16

Starts

Start of the Week –

Mark Andrews vs New York Giants

Andrews has gotten back into the good graces of fantasy managers after a good amount of weeks where he scored duds in points. He is a prime option for fantasy owners this weekend when he goes up against the New York Giants. Their defense gave up a massive amount of yardage to all three of the Browns tight ends last weekend and a touchdown for Austin Hooper as well. Put him in and watch the tight end roll.

T.J. Hockenson vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Hockenson put a huge crapshoot on the board last weekend as he only scored less than two points all game. He fumbled the ball too which didn’t help, but overall I see a huge bounce back for him this week when he and the Lions take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Their defense has struggled against the pass a decent amount of times this season, and with Stafford playing again, he should be his go-to guy.

Robert Tonyan vs Tennessee Titans

Tonyan has scored touchdowns for the last five weeks so you know you aren’t benching him this weekend when he and the Packers take on the Tennessee Titans despite Hockenson’s score last weekend. Tonyan has been a huge helping to Aaron Rodgers and the entire offense as it takes pressure off of Davante Adams in the red zone. Ride the wave of momentum in Robert Tonyan folks, you’ll thank me later.

Logan Thomas vs Carolina Panthers

Thomas has been a huge helping to fantasy owners in search of a decent tight end this year. Since Week 12 against Dallas, Thomas has mustered double digit fantasy points every single week, and he even got into the good graces of the returning Dwayne Haskins as he caught the ball 13 times for over 100 yards. He should be great against the Panthers after they just gave up a touchdown to Robert Tonyan last weekend.

Noah Fant vs Los Angeles Chargers

Fant did well despite the Broncos’ pathetic playing last weekend against the Bills. He should be a great weapon to work with this weekend against the Los Angeles Chargers. He didn’t have anything positive to say about his last matchup with the Chargers, but he was dealing with an injury at the time, and Drew lock’s receivers are shitting the bed lately. Look for him to do well in this one.

Sleepers;

Austin Hooper vs New York Jets

Hayden Hurst vs Kansas City Chiefs

Dalton Schultz vs Philadelphia Eagles

Sits

Sit of the Week –

Evan Engram vs Baltimore Ravens

Engram was a huge disappointment last weekend against once seemed like an easy matchup with the Cleveland Browns. He doesn’t strike me to play him this weekend against the Baltimore Ravens and that defense. No matter who is under center, whether it be Jones or McCoy, I would leave Engram on the bench this weekend. It just doesn’t even seem like a match worth discussing at this point.

Rob Gronkowski vs Detroit Lions

Gronk slipped back into his role of being just another guy out there as Mike Evans, Antonio Brown, and Chris Godwin all got their licks where it counted. Gronk was simply not the one who could bring in anything productive against the Falcons. I kind of see that going in the same direction when he and the Bucs face the Lions. Their defense will be hindered by the run game, and the damage dealt by wideouts. Leave him on the bench this weekend.

Tyler Higbee vs Seattle Seahawks

Higbee scored a touchdown last weekend against the Jets, but I would not chase the points here despite the matchup. Higbee has been a huge fantasy disappointment this season given what he was able to do last season near the end. So when it comes to him against the Seahawks, I would tread cautiously here as playing him this weekend could put your fantasy championships in jeopardy.

Zach Ertz vs Dallas Cowboys

What a shitty season for Zach Ertz man. At one time, he was one of the best tight ends in the entire NFL, but has now been reduced to nothing with how bad this Eagles team has been this season. With Dallas Goedert emerging as a better option, I would just simply leave Ertz on the bench the rest of the season. It is time for him to find a new home man.

Jordan Reed vs Arizona Cardinals

With the news that George Kittle could be coming back to play for the 49ers this weekend, it seems that Reed’s tenure with the team this season is over. However, let us assume that Kittle doesn’t play. It still is not a great matchup as the Cardinals have been able to cover tight ends pretty well throughout this season. Leave Reed on the bench no matter man. It just isn’t a smart play.

Busts;

Cole Kmet vs Jacksonville Jaguars

Tyler Eifert vs Chicago Bears

Dan Arnold vs San Francisco 49ers
