Start’ Em Sit’ Em Wide Receivers – Week 1

Starts

Start of the Week –

Terry McLaurin vs Philadelphia Eagles

McLaurin has the ability to achieve greatness for a second year in a row, but it all depends on how he can connect with his former college quarterback Dwayne Haskins. This week the Washington Football Team takes on the Eagles who allowed the most fantasy points to wide receivers lined out wide which is where McLaurin ran most of his routes. He shouldn’t see much of the newly added Darius Slay either so McLaurin is a heavy start in week one.

Courtland Sutton vs Tennessee Titans

Sutton had some of his stock drop a little bit because of the additions of wideouts Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler, but don’t let that discourage you from playing Sutton week one against the Tennessee Titans. Their defense has let a receiver almost catch an average of ten balls a game. Granted those could be spread out between the receivers, but Drew Lock showed a big connection with Sutton last season so I bet he will do well.

Stefon Diggs vs New York Jets

Diggs has the chance to do well in Buffalo given the circumstances, but he has to prove himself to be a number one receiver. He has a good chance to do that week one against a very piss poor New York Jets team that is without CJ Mosley. It also helps that the Jets allowed 13 touchdowns and the seventh most fantasy points to receivers lined out wide. Consider this Digg’s opportunity for gold.

DJ Chark vs Indianapolis Colts

Let’s be honest here. Chark is the only good thing left in Jacksonville aside from Gardner Minshew. Expect the running game to be very bleak in Jacksonville and for Minshew to throw the ball. The only way he should be looking is to Chark (his number one wideout). It helps that the Colts defense surrendered ten touchdowns last season which bodes well for this guy.

DeSean Jackson vs Washington Football Team

The age should figure in here, but here’s the thing. The receiver core in Philly is awful right now. Alshon Jeffery is not playing. Jalen Reagor is not playing. That means DeSean Jackson and JJ Arcega-Whiteside will be the main wideouts and I trust DeSean a lot more. Plus, the Washington Football Team allowed 11 touchdowns to receivers out wide last year making Jackson a very productive and safe play.

DK Metcalf vs Atlanta Falcons

Henry Ruggs III vs Carolina Panthers

Sits

Sit of the Week –

DeVante Parker vs New England Patriots

This photo makes me laugh because I believe Gilmore won’t have a problem with Parker at all. Parker has been dealing with an injury concern with his hamstring, and going up against the number one cornerback in 2019 doesn’t bold well for him. Plus, with Preston Williams back, Parker might lose some work to him.

Julian Edelman vs Miami Dolphins

This isn’t the most popular pick, but I am saying it. Edelman might be in for a rough year with Cam Newton at quarterback. I just have a feeling with his age, and Cam playing more to the running backs that it might not end well. He faces a decent challenge this week in Byron Jones which could give him some problems. I’m just not feeling it and neither should you.

A.J. Green vs Los Angeles Chargers

I’ve been a big hater on Cincinnati throughout the years. I do believe this year A.J. Green does have a bounce back year. However, it might take some time and depending on him right away might be foolish with his injury history and “ring rust” He’s a solid flex play, but probably nothing more than that against the Chargers who allowed the third-fewest points to receivers lined out wide.

Brandin Cooks vs Kansas City Chiefs

Brandin Cooks scares me this season, and maybe it is just because I am terrified of injury prone players. However, he has recorded three 1,000 yard seasons with three different teams, but I just don’t like his odds trying to fill in the shoes of Hopkins frightens me especially with other receivers there with Fuller and Cobb, but a match with Kansas City to start the year doesn’t sit well with me.

Marquise Brown vs Cleveland Browns

Brown is coming off some injury concerns last season, and it is interesting how he will be used in Baltimore’s offense when Lamar Jackson throws mostly to his tight end core. Plus, he is going against a Browns defense that allowed the ninth fewest fantasy points to wide receivers. You are maybe looking for him to be a flex starter, but his floor is really really low. Be wary!

Busts;

Jarvis Landry vs Baltimore Ravens

Sterling Shepard vs Pittsburgh Steelers

Emmanuel Sanders vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
