Who else saw this coming? Through his first contract, Jets safety Jamal Adams has proven to be one of the best safeties in the NFL. Unfortunately, he is on one of the worst teams in the league.
Even though the Jets have some talent with Sam Darnold, LeVeon Bell and others, they still can’t win and that poses a problem. Adams knows he is at an elevated level of play and deserves to be on a winning team. The general management staff and head coach Adam Gase don’t seem to have any legitimate plans of righting the ship.
So, last week, Adams requested a trade from the franchise.
Yup, one of the best safeties in the NFL seems to be on the market, but any team that hunts for him is going to have to give up quite the package to make a deal happen. I mean look at the tape.
I’m assuming it would include a first round pick and possibly some extra cash or bench players as an added bonus. He is too valuable that if the Jets are going to have to lose him, they’ll at least get their money’s worth.
Honestly any team in the NFL would love to have him which practically gives him 31 other potential landing spots. But will the Jets screw him over and not send him to a contender? We’ll see.
I know they won’t send him to a team within the division, but I see him going somewhere cross conference in the NFC. My best landing spot for him would be the Sam Francisco 49ers. They are a great team who need help in that position and are young enough to where losing a first round pick next year wouldn’t hurt them too badly.
There have also been a lot of reports that Adams’ first choice would be the Dallas Cowboys, lord knows they need help on the defensive side of the ball in the secondary. He’s come out and said he’s wanted to go play there and then this video surfaced over the weekend.
Now we just await to see where the man is headed, but this pro-bowl star deserves better. Hopefully he gets it.
