Deke’s 2025 Final Mock

I woke up today a man with a large amount of “pep” in his step. The air felt crisp, the bed was surprisingly comfier than normal and for some reason my sniffles, which had been on a full-on attack since Day One of arriving in Tennessee, had subsided.

As I rolled over I realized, today is the day. Today, 32 college athletes will make the transition to professional athletes on my 32nd year on planet earth, a kismet (let’s hope I’m using that right) example of this days weird significance to me.

We have stopped publishing as much content at Thoughts From The Bench as the old days and for positive reasons to be honest. Vo and Elsass have babies, Ben is a college soccer coach, Mac is a writer for DK sports, Smalls just took an overseas trip to see freaking Wrexham (not even a vlog man, come on!), Moorhead and Dre are domesticated, I haven’t heard from the sweet prince Brooksy in centuries and Chip felt like as the head of HR, he needed to let me know that the business model of “not making money” wasn’t a great one.

Fair advice in hindsight.

The draft though will always be something, whether it be a live show or a get together. From the origins of TFTB and the Draft Day Podcast, drafting stuff was really how this all started. Six Penn Kitchen, drafting point guards who were left-handed with the final boss of Yinzer’s David Sekely was really the origin as we filled the hours on slow Tuesday evenings.

This is all to say, if youo see a year where I don’t publish a Mock Draft then you better attend my funeral because I see no reason to stop pretending I know more than everyone else about this process. If that were true, I’d be in a front office but for a short window of time I really can believe that Mel Kiper would be lucky to have my brain.

If you’d like to see just how wrong people can be, check out the last mock I published back in December…growth is an important attribute people.

Here is my final 2025 Mock Draft. See yinz tonight!
