Moorhead’s 2024 NFL Mock Draft 2.0 (Two-Round Edition)

Well everyone, the combine is over, the prospects have shown what they can do in the drills, and free agency is about to get rolling here. I imagine by the time this comes out, multiple things will start to change making this mock obsolete.

However, mocking is a loving hobby of mine, and I won’t be deterred by some free-agent signings that will happen. This draft class is amazing, and I look forward to seeing where all these players go. With that being said, let’s start the show. This will be the first time I’ve ever done a two-round mock draft on this platform so it should definitely be exciting, to say the least.

To make sure this isn’t a really lengthy piece, I will write the explanations for the first round, but I’ll only write the names of the second round. No one wants to read that much anyway. Hope you guys enjoy it!

Pick 1 – Chicago Bears

Caleb Williams (QB/USC)

Nothing changes here. The Bears have basically come out and said they will take a quarterback and find Justin Fields a new home. A lot of people might find Caleb’s attitude to already be a bust, but if the talent is there this pick will hopefully find Chicago its franchise quarterback.

Pick 2 – Washington Commanders

Jayden Daniels (QB/LSU)

It’s funny how I thought putting Daniels in this spot was more of a “crazy” idea since many people had Drake Maye here. Nowadays, that is all you see. Everyone is putting Jayden Daniels to the Commanders. I see why. His play style reflects what Kliff Kingsbury is looking for in a quarterback. So as much as I want to be different again, this pick will stay the same.

Pick 3 – New England Patriots

Drake Maye (QB/UNC)

To be honest, I was going to put Marvin Harrison here to be a little different, but then the Patriots traded Mac Jones to the Jaguars. There is no way in hell that the Pats can have the season start with Bailey Zappe leading the charge. There are also reports that New England is going to spend some money on a big-name receiver to help the offense out. So, grab UNC’s Drake Maye and restart the good luck feelings in New England.

Pick 4 – Arizona Cardinals

Marvin Harrison Jr. (WR/Ohio State)

Arizona needs some receiver help with Marquise Brown becoming a free agent. Some people are trying to get cute in these mocks by saying this will be Malik Nabers. If this was any other draft then I’d believe you…but it’s not. Marvin Harrison is there and is the best wideout in this draft. He’ll be the pick here for Arizona.

Pick 5 – Los Angeles Chargers

Joe Alt (OT/Notre Dame)

This is a tough one because if this was the real draft I would assume the Chargers would trade down here with another team. However, if trades can’t happen then I have to roll with the best option. Brock Bowers was my original selection, but after taking some time to think about it, I went with a different route. Joe Alt is my pick here. I know they need some weapons but getting two elite tackles in Alt and Slater is a must. Rumor has it they might even sign Saquon Barkley.

Pick 6 – New York Giants

Malik Nabers (WR/LSU)

The Giants could go McCarthy here, but this wide receiver core is made up of a bunch of C+ players. They need one elite guy to get back to the days of Odell Beckham. So why not grab someone from his old stopping grounds; LSU’s Malik Nabers. He can easily come in and claim the number one spot. I also predict they’ll sign Gabe Davis in free agency since he was one of Brian Daboll’s guys in Buffalo.

Pick 7 – Tennessee Titans

Rome Odunze (WR/Washington)

Yes I know that Tennessee is in desperate need of offensive line, but you might have a hard time at grabbing another weapon like Washington’s Rome Odunze. With DeAndre Hopkins entering a contract year and Treylon Burks turning out to be a bust, this might be the best thing to elevate Will Levis as their franchise quarterback.

Pick 8 – Atlanta Falcons

J.J. McCarthy (QB/Michigan)

It was really hard to not put Dallas Turner here, but to me this situation seems just too perfect. I believe the Falcons will acquire Kirk Cousins in free agency. With that being the case, why not draft the future to sit behind one of the best and learn from him because McCarthy isn’t ready to start just yet, but if he learns from Cousins he can be an amazing quarterback for the future.

Pick 9 – Chicago Bears

Dallas Turner (EDGE/Alabama)

Chicago already grabbed Caleb Williams with their first selection so now we turn to the defensive side of the ball. The Bears need an edge rusher to complement the newly acquired Montez Sweat. Dallas Turner would be a perfect fit indeed.

Pick 10 – New York Jets

Troy Fautanu (OT/Washington)

The Jets need offensive line help to make sure Rodgers doesn’t end up as a stain on the field. My rankings for the offensive lineman has been going back and forth, but I think I finally settled on Fautanu as the next guy up after Alt. Traditionally a guard, Troy has the arm length of a true tackle and can easily fill in that role.

Pick 11 – Minnesota Vikings

Jared Verse (EDGE/Florida State)

With Minnesota missing out on the top four quarterbacks, they need to go to their next big need; edge rusher. While they might be able to get Danielle Hunter back, he’s not the guy he used to be, and they have two other edge rushers hitting free agency. Verse is a great piece to add to this defense.

Pick 12 – Denver Broncos

Brian Thomas Jr. (WR/LSU)

The same thing applies here to Denver as it did with Minnesota, but their biggest need changed after this weekend when the Broncos traded wideout Jerry Jeudy to the Browns. You have Courtland Sutton and Marvin Mims. You will need more than that if you want whoever comes in at quarterback to succeed.

Pick 13 – Las Vegas Raiders

Terrion Arnold (CB/Alabama)

The Raiders need some help in the secondary and they get by grabbing Alabama’s Terrion Arnold. To be honest, I can’t really name one of the corners of Las Vegas. That should tell you something. They need to add help in the secondary.

Pick 14 – New Orleans Saints

Olumuyiwa Fashanu (OT/Penn State)

To me, this comes down to a single decision; keep rolling with that bum Trevor Penning at left tackle or find a solution to right tackle in case Ramczyk can’t go next season. You have to replace Penning. He sucks, and I can’t believe people wanted him on the Steelers, so stupid. Fashanu has some flaws but he’s the next best left tackle option available.

Pick 15 – Indianapolis Colts

Brock Bowers (TE/Georgia)

The fall of Brock Bowers stops now. To be fair, it’s not his fault. There’s just a lot of needs elsewhere for teams to consider. The Colts main piece of offense that is missing is a tight end. You could argue receiver or corner here, but Bowers has to be the pick to help Anthony Richardson succeed.

Pick 16 – Seattle Seahawks

Byron Murphy II (DT/Texas)

Seattle has some contracts to work out on the defensive line, and if I were then I’d grab who I believe is the best defensive tackle in the draft in Byron Murphy II. You could argue maybe going offensive line here, but it’s hard to ignore the talent of this kid.

Pick 17 – Jacksonville Jaguars

Quinyon Mitchell (CB/Toledo)

Jacksonville is losing some big pieces in the secondary to free agency. I personally believe they’ll look to spend big on receiver if they can’t retain Calvin Ridley. Therefore, you have to draft the next best corner in this class. A guy that showed out for the Senior Bowl and the combine; Toledo’s Quinyon Mitchell.

Pick 18 – Cincinnati Bengals

JC Latham (OT/Alabama)

The Bengals will be looking to replace Jonah Williams when he hits free agency. JC Latham would be an amazing fit for the Bengals as they can finally breathe a sigh of relief when Joe Burrow doesn’t die out there on the field yet again.

Pick 19 – Los Angeles Rams

Nate Wiggins (CB/Clemson)

Wiggins makes his way to the Rams in this mock draft. He had an awesome combine performance, but it looked like he tweaked something after his 40 yard dash. Still, the Rams will take the chance and draft him because they only have the likes of Ahkello Witherspoon, Derion Kendrick, and Cobie Durant. You gotta draft Wiggins here to help this secondary out.

Pick 20 – Pittsburgh Steelers

Amarius Mims (OT/Georgia)

Mims may not have a lot of starts under his belt, but man when he is on the field he is spectacular to watch. Omar Khan said that he wants Broderick Jones to return to left tackle. To do that you gotta draft Amarius Mims to play right tackle. You miss out on JPJ, but I believe they’ll address center in this draft as well.

Pick 21 – Miami Dolphins

Jackson Powers-Johnson (IOL/Oregon)

The Dolphins are in desperate need of offensive lineman (particularly in the interior). They really need a center to make sure that Tua doesn’t get overwhelmed, and if Pittsburgh isn’t going to take him than the Dolphins will happily seize the opportunity.

Pick 22 – Philadelphia Eagles

Kool-Aid McKinstry (CB/Alabama)

Philly’s secondary was a complete bust last season. They have an aging Darius Slay, and they have James Bradberry who just sucked. They need some youth and talent to help them out, and this Alabama corner is the right man. What a talent Kool-Aid will be in Philadelphia.

Pick 23 – Houston Texans

Laiatu Latu (EDGE/UCLA)

The Texans get their choice of picking two defense needs; EDGE or defensive tackle. They could go either way here, but I think they might roll the dice and go with Laiatu Latu. Can you imagine him alongside Will Anderson Jr? Good lord, DeMeco Ryans would be in heaven to say the least.

Pick 24 – Dallas Cowboys

Taliese Fuaga (OT/Oregon State)

Fuaga drops a bunch in this mock as he is selected by the Dallas Cowboys. It’s really nothing against him, but in my mind, other tackles have moved up the ladder. Tyron Smith is likely out the door, so why not grab Fuaga to put at right tackle and then move Tyler Smith from guard back to left tackle. Problem solved.

Pick 25 – Green Bay Packers

Cooper DeJean (CB/Iowa)

This pick must be getting tiresome for some people, but I’ll keep mocking it because it just makes the most sense. I believe he’ll fit mostly at corner for this though as he’ll be alongside Jaire Alexander while they look to pick up a safety later in the draft.

Pick 26 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Chop Robinson (EDGE/Penn State)

With all the re-signings on offense, you have to believe that Tampa Bay might not have the sufficient funds to acquire a great edge rusher in free agency. Their next move then is to turn to the draft and grab the best one available in Penn State’s Chop Robinson. He was a stud at the combine, and he’ll be a stud for the Bucs.

Pick 27 – Arizona Cardinals

Jer’Zhan Newton (DT/Illinois)

Arizona went with Marvin Harrison with their first pick. Now you have to address the defense, and the two biggest positions of need are defensive tackle and cornerback. With a majority of the corners gone, they’ll turn to “Johnny” Newton to improve their defensive line.

Pick 28 – Buffalo Bills

Adonai Mitchell (WR/Texas)

Buffalo could use some help in the secondary with losses of both their safeties and all-pro corner, but we know that’s just not how Buffalo operates. They’ll look to help out Josh Allen as much as they can. With Gabe Davis likely out the door, the Bills need a new weapon to other than Stefon Diggs and Dalton Kincaid.

Pick 29 – Detroit Lions

Ennis Rakestraw Jr. (CB/Missouri)

The Lions need some major help in the secondary. It might be a little bit early, but the Lions have proven they aren’t shy about taking guys early. The Missouri corner screams Detroit, and the Lions will love having him in their squad.

Pick 30 – Baltimore Ravens

Graham Barton (OT/Duke)

The Ravens could use help in a lot of different ways, but I would address the offensive line. Graham Barton is labeled as a tackle, but will most likely transition to guard. This works out well considering the Kevin Zeitler is likely heading to free agency.

Pick 31 – San Francisco 49ers

Tyler Guyton (OT/Oklahoma)

Guyton falls a bit for me here because as much as I liked him to start, it appears he’ll have to sit and learn more before he can be a full time starter. Luckily for him, the 49ers have a very well and experienced line to learn from. You could look to start him now, but that just doesn’t seem like the smart thing to do.

Pick 32 – Kansas City Chiefs

Xavier Worthy (WR/Texas)

Look, I know everyone and their mother are mocking Xavier Worthy to the Chiefs. I am joining in here as it just seems like too much fun for them. You have Rice as the route runner, Kelce as the target for the middle of the field, and then Worthy for the vertical replacement for MVS.

Pick 33 – Carolina Panthers

Ladd McConkey (WR/Georgia)

Pick 34 – New England Patriots

Keon Coleman (WR/Florida State)

Pick 35 – Arizona Cardinals

Kamari Lassiter (CB/Georgia)

Pick 36 – Washington Commanders

Bralen Trice (EDGE/Washington)

Pick 37 – Los Angeles Chargers

T.J. Tampa (CB/Iowa State)

Pick 38 – Tennessee Titans

Kingsley Suamataia (OT/BYU)

Pick 39 – New York Giants

Bo Nix (QB/Oregon)

Pick 40 – Washington Commanders

Jordan Morgan (OT/Arizona)

Pick 41 – Green Bay Packers

Tyler Nubin (S/Minnesota)

Pick 42 – Minnesota Vikings

Michael Penix Jr. (QB/Washington)

Pick 43 – Atlanta Falcons

Roman Wilson (WR/Michigan)

Pick 44 – Las Vegas Raiders

Darius Robinson (DT/Missouri)

Pick 45 – New Orleans Saints

Xavier Legette (WR/South Carolina)

Pick 46 – Indianapolis Colts

T’Vondre Sweat (DT/Texas)

Pick 47 – New York Giants

Christian Haynes (IOL/UConn)

Pick 48 – Jacksonville Jaguars

Troy Franklin (WR/Oregon)

Pick 49 – Cincinnati Bengals

Kris Jenkins (DT/Michigan)

Pick 50 – Philadelphia Eagles

Edgerrin Cooper (LB/Texas A&M)

Pick 51 – Pittsburgh Steelers

Zach Frazier (IOL/WVU)

Pick 52 – Los Angeles Rams

Chris Braswell (EDGE/Alabama)

Pick 53 – Philadelphia Eagles

Javon Bullard (S/Georgia)

Pick 54 – Cleveland Browns

Payton Wilson (LB/NC State)

Pick 55 – Miami Dolphins

Patrick Paul (OT/Houston)

Pick 56 – Dallas Cowboys

Trey Benson (RB/Florida State)

Pick 57 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Cooper Beebe (IOL/Kansas State)

Pick 58 – Green Bay Packers

Jonathon Brooks (RB/Texas)

Pick 59 – Houston Texans

Branden Fiske (DT/Florida State)

Pick 60 – Buffalo Bills

Kamren Kinchens (S/Miami)

Pick 61 – Detroit Lions

Adisa Isaac (EDGE/Penn State)

Pick 62 – Baltimore Ravens

Junior Colson (LB/Michigan)

Pick 63 – San Francisco 49ers

Marshawn Kneeland (EDGE/Western Michigan)

Pick 64 – Kansas City Chiefs

Jonah Ellis (EDGE/Utah)
