I’m Not Crying, You Are!

Well, fuck me this is gonna hurt. Blink-182 is back and they are here to open up new wounds and make you remember all the things you wish you could take back. They are going to drop a proverbial anvil of depression on all of us. While simultaneously making all of the Millenial generation remember how old we are.

To say Blink-182 wasn’t one of if not the most influential bands of our generation is at this point stupid. They perfected Pop Punk, invented Emo music, and made us all love Dick Jokes. All while capturing the hearts of America and most importantly our generation.

This October they will be releasing a new album in which the iconic members hash out the things that have kept them apart for so long, but also the tragedies that have happened that brought them back together.

Each member has lived a thousand lives since the band last broke up, with Mark moving to London, and getting cancer. Travis was in a plane that literally fell out of the sky, while also being the sole driving force for the rebirth of Pop Punk. And Tom? Well, Tom was trying to tell everyone “Aliens Exist”. It turns out he was right!

From what we know when Tom found out Mark was sick, that was what needed to happen to break the silence. Over Mark’s treatment the three of them became close again and agreed once Mark kicked Cancers ass that they would tour again.

So they did and the tour by all accounts has been a smashing success. With them playing for upwards of two hours every night and playing every single hit that their extensive catalog has to offer.

What also has seemed to come from this is new music. This is what tends to happen when bands reunite they always get the itch to create again. Especially when you have three musicians of their caliber who have created some of the most iconic melodies of the past 30 years.

The thing is, that normally when these bands make new music, it sucks. . . Sorry Greg, much like Fall Out Boy, or Paramore these once world-dominating bands renuinte and our largely a shell of their former sleeves. However, if this first single is any indication the trio known as Blink-182 is about to create new music that is going to hit you just as hard as it did when you were in high school.

The video for “One More Time” is a time machine that visually transports you through the history of the band stopping by each major landmark in their career. The music feels like something that would fit perfectly in between “Down” and “I Miss You” on their 2003 Self-titled album. The lyrical content talks about what has transpired over the past ten years. They touch on everything I have already mentioned but also why they are back together.

Are yinz ready? This album is about to make you rethink every single decision you have ever made while simultaneously reminding you there isn’t much time left to make things right. But at least we make Mark, Tom, and Travis to help guide us through it.
