Travis Hunter for Heisman

I don’t think anyone really knew what to expect from the University of Colorado this year. They hired Deon Sanders in the off-season. It caused a lot of commotion when Coahc Prime turned over 99 percent of the Colorado roster. The reason for the drastic change was simple. Colorado sucked and they had hired a coach who had his own guys. Plus thanks to the Transfer Portal it was easy and legal for Coach Prime to bring them in. However, there was a quote during the transition that stuck with not only me but the sports world as a whole. To quote Coach Prime, “I’m bringing my luggage and it’s Louie”. What he must have meant was he was bringing Travis Hunter.

Travis Hunter is a “Freshman” who a few years ago was the number one recruit in the country coming out of high school. It was obvious that this kid had the potential to be special. It was also obvious that he had his head on straight when he chose Deon Sanders as his head coach. The five-star decided to join Coach Prime at Jackson State which is not technically a Division One school. When asked why, his answer was simple, “What do you mean why? I’m going there for him.” By him, he meant the Hall of Fame multi-pro sport athlete and icon, Deon Sanders.

Travis was a stud at Jackson State, but he was playing against an inferior opponent. So how would he and his Iconic coach fair when the bright lights of Power 5 Football shined on them? Well at this point the 4th quarter has started and the pair or thriving.

Travis Hunter has been a stand out at cornerback. He already has one pick, one TD-saving tackle, and at least 2 broken-up passes.

However, what no one expected was that this special player would continue to play on both sides of the ball. He is currently lining up at wide receiver with a stat line of 8 catches for 53 yards.

You read that right this 20-year-old child is playing superstar-level football on defense. While also being a legitimate weapon on offense. And to be honest I’m not sure that this kid is fully developed physically or as a player. If I had to guess he not only has another gear to go to but perhaps two or three.

At this point, Colorado has made it clear that they are here to play big-time football. Coach Prime has made it clear that his Louie Luggage was no joke. And Travis Hunter has made it clear he plans on winning a Heisman.
