Start’ Em Sit’ Em Tight Ends – Week 9

Okay, people let’s access the damage from last week. The start of the week was Hunter Henry, and he did not perform up to the standard we expect here from the start of the week. The sit of the week was Gronk. He came in for five plays, and then he went back off the field so clearly he wasn’t ready. Let’s do week nine.

Starts

Start of the Week;

Tyler Conklin vs Baltimore Ravens

It was proven two weeks ago that the Baltimore Ravens cannot cover the tight end position to save their lives. Enter Tyler Conklin. The guy has done some great things with Cousins and the Vikings. Last week against Dallas, he scored ten points, and honestly, he might exceed that this week against the Ravens. I mean CJ Uzomah scored two on them. Expect him to get into the endzone.

Jared Cook vs Philadelphia Eagles

Cook has been really wishy-washy this season, but I think things are gonna get back on track for him this weekend against the Eagles. Their defense is in the bottom tier at defending tight ends. He should see a lot of looks with the wide receivers being shut down. Look for him to do well this weekend.

Dallas Goedert vs Los Angeles Chargers

Goedert is getting to the point where he can a must-start fantasy tight end every week. He stays on the list for now, but he has a good matchup in play against the Chargers. He should do quite well as he is becoming Hurt’s number one target. He should be a great option for your lineups this week.

Zach Ertz vs San Francisco 49ers

Ertz has been a great addition to the Arizona Cardinals. He should be an even better addition now that AJ Green will be out with COVID. Expect Ertz to be a great possession vocal point for Murray and the Cardinals against the 49ers.

Evan Engram vs Las Vegas Raiders

Engram right now might be the best receiver on the Giants roster with all the injuries and COVID issues. He should be a great option for the simple note of volume for him. He might suck at football, but he’s all the Giants have right now.

Sleepers;

Hunter Henry vs Carolina Panthers

Albert Okwuegbunam vs Dallas Cowboys

Tommy Sweeny vs Jacksonville Jaguars

Sits

Sit of the Week;

CJ Uzomah vs Cleveland Browns

Don’t get me wrong. Uzomah has been doing actually pretty good this season. However, he slipped a little bit this past weekend against the Jets. Receivers are starting to gather more attention than him, and I believe it will show it full throttle when the Bengals take on the Browns this week.

Tyler Higbee vs Tennessee Titans

Higbee is in a bad place right now. The main problem is that he is not getting enough targets and catches to go with those targets. Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods are completely dominating the game, and he is left out in the cold. The matchup seems great, but it will be those two (and maybe Jefferson) that take up all the points, not Higbee.

Dalton Schultz vs Denver Broncos

Schultz has fallen off a little bit since the beginning of the season. Cooper and Lamb are getting a lot more looks due to gameplan and script. I thought he might get a couple more looks with Cooper Rush starting at quarterback, but that didn’t go as planned either. He faces the Broncos this week who are the 4th best team at covering tight ends. It might be safe to just bench him this week and see what happens.

Pat Friermurth vs Chicago Bears

Friermurth scored an amazing touchdown last weekend against the Browns. He now will have to contend with the Bears this week. There might be a lot wrong with the Bears, but they know how to cover tight ends. They are the 2nd best team at doing it. Will he sneak into the endzone? I’m not sure. It will be tough, but I hope I am wrong here.

Dan Arnold vs Buffalo Bills

Arnold has been wonderful to Trevor Lawrence in tight places. However, if you are starting Arnold, you have bigger problems man. In a match where he and the Jaguars face the Buffalo Bills, I am telling you this. I am sitting every single Jaguar. No ifs ands or buts. That includes Arnold. So sorry, but not sorry.

Busts;

Mo Alie-Cox vs New York Jets

Cole Kmet vs Pittsburgh Steelers

Austin Hooper vs Cincinnati Bengals
