Start’ Em Sit’ Em Running Backs – Week 8

Start of the Week –

Sony Michel vs Cleveland Browns

Sony Michel lands my spot for the start of the week due to his workload after last week’s matchup against the Jets. Michel scored three rushing touchdowns against the Jets and virtually shut them out. While i do not believe this game against the Browns will be a blowout, Michel should see an excellent amount of production in this game as the Browns are ranked in the bottom tier against the run. 30 to be exact. Start Michel.

Aaron Jones vs Kansas City Chiefs

Aaron Jones got shut out against the Lions two weeks ago, but then came alive again against the Raiders last week. It is really hard to trust the running back situation in Green Bay as both backs do well and one can take over the next week, but this matchup is too good to pass up against the Kansas City Chiefs who are not the greatest team against the run. Don’t let last week’s matchup against the Broncos discourage you either. They reacted hard when Mahomes went out. I expect this week to be a little easier for Jones.

Marlon Mack vs Denver Broncos

Marlon Mack did not do the greatest against the Texans last week, but then again their pass defense is a lot worse than their rush defense. The opposite now is flipped for this week as Mack and the Colts take on the Broncos whose rushing defense is starting to wake up, but still is not the best when covering running backs. With Brissett likely to be pressured a lot by Von Miller I see him passing the ball out to Mack and getting points that way.

Latavius Murray vs Arizona Cardinals

Murray had a big breakout game last weekend against the Chicago Bears. He rushed for 119 yards and had two rushing touchdowns against one of the best defenses in the NFL. Now he gets one of the worst rushing defenses in the NFL in the Arizona Cardinals this week. I personally believe he will be a big factor even if Kamara plays. Get him in your line up this week.

Tevin Coleman vs Carolina Panthers

Tevin Coleman got a lot of work in on a rainy and miserable outing against Washington especially when Matt Breida went out of the game after getting poked in the eye. He now sets his eyes this week on the Carolina Panthers. Carolina’s defense is good, but they have surrendered six rushing touchdowns to opposing backs which is tied for seventh most in the NFL.

Carlos Hyde vs Oakland Raiders

David Montgomery vs Los Angeles Chargers

Ty Johnson vs New York Giants

Sit of the Week –

David Johnson vs New Orleans Saints

I am not sure what is up with David Johnson’s injuries, but it was enough for Coach Kliff to activate him and not play him last week. It was a frustrating move that pissed off so many fantasy owners including myself especially since back up Chase Edmunds ran for over 100 yards and had three touchdowns Now the injury might be a bit more serious as the Cardinals just signed Zach Zenner and Alfred Morris to the team. With this now coming into play it might be a tough one, but I’d sit Johnson this week against the Saints.

Joe Mixon vs Los Angeles Rams

Mixon’s downward spiral continues. Even though he got a touchdown last week, he was held in check all game by the Jacksonville Jaguars rushing for only seven yards all game. I doubt I see any progression moving forward on his end as he faces the Los Angeles Rams who pretty much held Freeman in check last week before he was ejected for throwing a punch. This could be another rough one for Mixon.

Jordan Howard vs Buffalo Bills

Jordan Howard ends up on the sit list this week as he and the Eagles take flight against the Buffalo Bills. I don’t like the matchup one bit. The matchup itself has only allowed running backs four touchdowns all season. To make matters worse we are back to the running back committee he now has to share again with Miles Sanders. So he isn’t getting the volume he needs either. Fade on him this weekend.

Derrick Henry vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Henry had a good showing against the Chargers last weekend rushing for 90 yards and a score as well. That might not be easy to come by this week against the Buccaneers whose front seven has been fairly decent this season. Seeing is how the Bucs pass defense is last in the NFL, I’d imagine Ryan Tannehill leaning on his receivers and run when needed. My opinion, but start him if you want. It’s a big risk.

Frank Gore vs Philadelphia Eagles

Frank Gore had the chance to do some really good things against Miami last weekend and he just couldn’t do it. Being that he faces a much tougher challenge this upcoming weekend I just wouldn’t risk a decision being made here. Sit Gore and do not play Devin Singletary either. Neither of these two have an upside this week as Philly’s defense against the run has held backs in check aside from Ezekiel Elliot.

Adrian Peterson vs Minnesota Vikings

Kenyan Drake vs Pittsburgh Steelers

Damien Williams vs Green Bay Packers
